A new way to force some discipline
This could apply to any game or any bankroll. Over the years, I have been guilty of betting all over the place many times causing a bust in bankroll. To force a bit of discipline, I am going to try this starting Sunday evening. With a bankroll of 500 bucks, I will put in a hundred in any given machine. I will play 80 hands. Exactly 80 hands and cash out. Then I will either take a break or try another machine with a new hundred dollar bill. I will repeat the pattern until all 5 hundred dollar bills have been played. At that point, I will cash the tickets and decide if I should quit or start over. If I play a 98 or 99 percent game, my long term losses should be minimal. Anyway, we will see how it goes. Long term, over the course of a session playing say 4,000 hands, my losses even on a 98 percent game should average only a hundred bucks or so. Based on my experience at both Ct casinos, comps including free play should exceed this amount. Well, I will see if I can stick to it.

How do you plan to keep count? You can always get a clicker at a sporting goods store. The counting would be much too distracting otherwise.

At my home casino there is a display of points earned each session, which is from the point you put your card in which would tell how many hands played. At one point per dollar coin-in, quarter play, max coin-in, would require 100 points to signify 80 hands played. The math should be easy for other denoms. unless it's cocktail hour, in which case all bets are off.
Actually thats just a lame joke. In my case i never drink while playing or after. I am handicapped enough without alcohol.
OLDS i have had similar afflictions to those described in your opening sentences.Am awaiting your results.
Please post either way.

At most casinos, the card readers display your points. If you're playing quarters, 80 hands is $100 coin in --- which will translate to however many points are awarded at that casinos for $100 coin-in. If it's one point per dollar coin-in, and you start your session with 19,743 points, your session will be over at 19,843 points. For me, anyway, it is easier to remember my target number than it is to accurately keep tract of exactly 80 hands.
None of this is to say I believe this technique changes anything essential or is useful in the slightest. But if Olds or anybody else wants to try it with his own money, have at it!

This system is lost on me with my shifting bets, and with Olds’ Martingdale clone attempts!

I like the "disciplined approach" described above. My only concern is that too few hands are being played in this scenario to expect the payback percentage the game pays. A 99% payback game pays that percentage over an infinite number (or at least a very large number) of plays. When playing a short round, other factors come into play, such as the volatility of the game and, well, just plain luck.

Welcome hnics. Good point. Many of us consider our lifetime to be a fairly small sample size.

It does maximize hit and run opportunities. You’re kicking a lot of tires at a brisk frequency.
