parents/upbringing, demographics, progressive policies are all excellent answers and also obvious to many of us. i just didn't want to be the first one to say it. might want to add in teacher unions that are against school choice.

this is just another subject that illustrates the division within the country. one side seems to always demand more money to correct a problem...schools, and the other that argues increasing spending does not always get better results. go back to basics; parental involvement, bring back order/respect to schools, competition, spend more time teaching basics and less time teaching the latest politically correct talking points. demand more from the students.

Spot on Notes. But we might agree on another culprit. We, the voters. We vote in local and state reps. who undermine the society to protect entrenched bureaucracy and union thugs.
Every gov. agency in the country is in financial melt-down! Townships ,cities ,states, all with legacy costs that they have no way of paying!!
Why? Because we the voters let them run things like a political Fiefdom instead of an ongoing business!
On the education debacle, the politicians care more about union PAC funds than they do about student achievement!!
We are reaping what we have sown. Getting what we deserve, Our country is slowly becoming non-competitive in the world of economics and education.
And the progressive libs. will blame in all on cold-hearted conservatives not being willing to piss more dollars down their rat-hole programs.
The glaring example of Utah will never make media headlines.

correct, voters are also guilty!

but, this is what we should expect when nearly 50% of tax filers, pay NO federal taxes. they have no skin in the game. the top 10% of income earners pay 70% of all federal taxes. the bottom 50% of income earners pay a grand total of 3% of fed taxes.

If you shared a few of the best with us it would be appreciated.
Here are some examples of statements attributed to him.

"Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy. Its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."

"There are two places only where socialism will work: in heaven, where it is not needed, and in hell, where they already have it."

"Socialism is one of the oldest and most often expounded delusions and fallacies this world has ever been afflicted by. It consists not merely in a general levelling of mankind, but in keeping them level once they have been beaten down."

Thanks OMT.
Of course for progressive libs. today, they think socialism is their idea! Because they never clutter their little minds with history. They are the saviors of the world and they live TODAY!
The fact that socialism has failed thru many trials down thru history is unknown to them!
Repeating again a famous quote: "Read history: so learn your place in time;/ And go to sleep: all this was done before." E.S.V. M.

Brilliant, omt! Because "socialism" isn't always stated explicitly by its tacit supporters, you might be able to substitute in the term "Equalizing income" in those quotes for the word "socialism" and have the same meaning. Unfortunately, as true as these statements are, I still wonder about what mechanism is necessary to increase the understanding of those who don't instantly realize their beauty and simple truth content.

There is no chance of re-educating a cool-aid drinking, one-world, progressive liberal.
Their view of the world is not a rational one. They do not re-examine their beliefs.
That is why we cannot fall into the trap of compromise. We must DEFEAT them. Not only in the arena of ideas but also at the ballot box!
