despite what is reported by much of the media and hear from liberals, it is a pretty damn good time to live in america.
economically, the country is doing well, with wealth and wages increasing, especially for those at the lower end of the income scale. there are more jobs available, than people to fill them. employment figures have never been better for minorities. people are spending and saving more, their lives have improved.
we have improved trade deals, that no longer favor other countries. some countries may not like us, but they are also no longer taking advantage of us. this includes paying their fair share, for their own protection.
there are no world wide military conflicts. afghanistan, n korea, middle east are all trouble spots, but they have been screwed up for my entire life. this may likely never change.
inflation is less than 2%, gas prices low, fed tax rates lower...people can keep more of their own money. one major problem, we continue to run up large deficits, due to overspending by government.
crime is lower, with the exception of some large city murder rates. medical advances continue to improve our lives.
is everything perfect, of course not. but, life is pretty good in america.
good time to be an american

Well said Indeed!
I have a serious question though. Does anyone have any info. about the trending of the welfare rolls?
I read one small article about a very prosperous three-county region here that has 10,000+ jobs that they cannot fill but no answer was forth-coming about welfare rolls.
if anyone knows a good source to research this let me know please.
I believe Trump had a plank in his plans to work on welfare fraud. Any progress?

Andrew Yang has a plan to give every American $ 1,000 a month. My initial reaction was wtf? But after thinking about it, if it is tied to welfare reform, maybe it's not crazy. You get the 1k a month and anything you earn beyond that, you keep, but no more welfare benefits. Might encourage people to work?

Please think about it again CAR.
Simply a purely socialist transfer of wealth!
The plan taxes the hell out of those who have money, and gives to others.
This would stifle the engine of the free enterprise system big time.

have not read his plan, but i would bet he is not doing away with ANY existing hand outs. his $1k giveaway will be an extra. and, of course it will be paid by those low life citizens, who go to work and earn a paycheck or those who have saved and invested.
socialism.

I'm sure you're right, but it might be a starting point for negotiating something good. Long shot I know.

CC, after the 2016 election, i was convinced the dems would re-evaluate some of their positions, that had led them to veer more to the left (such as allowing trans to use bathrooms/showers of teenagers) and leave behind the feelings of much of the country. i was completely wrong!
instead, their base has gotten more extreme, with endorsed policies that i and many others cannot believe are being proposed. their base hates trump and they hate his supporters.
they will not negotiate.

Exactly notes.
This is why we do not need to try compromise with them.
We must DEFEAT them!!
