Wonderful hit...again!
Yes, the tax basis is in two different years. But still, she is looking at two years in a row of greatly increased gross income. Hopefully, she is accumulating her documented gambling losses in an organized manner.

I would think anyone who could afford to gamble that large would itemize their taxes. If not, Uncle Sam will take a big chunk out of those wins. Uncle Sam needs the money.

First thing that came to me seeing your post Larry was Yogi Berra's "deja vu all over again." Congrats Carrie.

I don't know about lifetime. I've been gambling quite a while now and I don't keep track except my yearly
win/loss.

Thanks everyone! For those wondering it was not the same machine as my hit in December.
There are two of these machines in high limit and I chose to try my luck on the other machine.
LL predicts that since both these machines have hit the max payout they will be removed from the
floor. We will see....

I have taken a few pot shots on the $5 and $10 machines during my life. I have never hit a $100,000 jackpot. If I did, it would be the thrill of a lifetime. I can't imagine anything more exciting that could happen in a casino unless it's hitting one twice. Congratulations!
When I hear about gamblers who win big, I always wonder how much they lost to win it? I know most gamblers consider me a killjoy, but that's the dark side of gambling. Most people walk into a casino with dreams of winning. I walk in with dreams of not losing. This makes me a terrible gambler. Thank God I have other talents.

I predict they will remove them as well I think it was in 2001 I was playing quarter double down stud. On a dealt Royal you win 5k with bet 5 then double before you see your last card. I hit the dealt Royal twice on the same machine in less than two months. The following week that machine was gone. That is nearly a 700,000 to one shot of being dealt the Royal. Actually I think closer to 650,000 but still. They were also really pissed because I insisted both times on getting paid by check. It was like 430 AM. They couldn’t find anybody to do it but 2 hours later did. I refused to play anymore until they paid me. They wanted me to put all that money back then and there so badly. Of course I did over the next month or so. Bummer.
