The "noise" comment refers not just to the present discussion, but political conversation in general everywhere (not just on this web site). One seemingly can't escape it. Some people come here to do just that.

I'm all for free speech but if someone stands on my porch when I'm taking a nap and starts yelling pro or anti-trump slogans, I'm going to tell them to shove off and let me rest. A lot of people want this to be a place they can come to relax as well.

So if we could keep political discussions to that one area of the forum, then hopefully there is something for everyone. People who aren't interested can keep out of those topics.
Agree. I am one who is tuning out all the political posts etc. whether here on Facebook or elsewhere.

Some may think otherwise, I mean in a free thinking manner of course.

No matter what we do throughout history, the country will end up being pretty much 50/50 left and right give or take 5 points or so. Nobody unfortunately is going to change anyone’s mind no matter how eloquent or factual the information is presented. That makes me wonder just like being born a boy or girl, are we born left or right. Maybe some of us are born gamblers and some not. Who knows? Guess the big guy in the sky knows for sure. Now back to vp if it is even going to exist anymore down the road. Good will prevail hopefully when we get to the polls. The gang already knows my definition of good. Couldn’t resist adding that at the end.

Webman: You said in your post, "So if we could keep political discussions to that one area of the forum, then hopefully there is something for everyone. People who aren't interested can keep out of those topics. " If that's the case, to which I agree , then political statements should not be allowed on the top of the leaderboards of the 4 contests. A lot more VP members participate in the contests then read through forum posts.

For leaderboard posts, simply click on the ones you don’t care for and they will be forever hidden from your sight.

Webman: It is not a question of whether I like or dislike a comment. I'd feel the same way if the person was promoting the reelection. I don't think it belongs there. How many members viewing it know they can delete it? I have been a member for over a decade and active Forum participant and wasn't aware you could get rid of a header. What is the policy if the header is religious or racist, etc. Where do you draw the line? Or do you? I just think its best just to tell people to keep, politics, religion or similar topics off the leader board. Just my 2 cents and as always I will support whatever decision you make.

Prior to this thread, Webman has posted this helpful hint at least 4 other times in the last year (Feb 14; Feb 2; Dec 30, 2019; May 23, 2019; I gave the dates since you evidently missed these messages). Give it a try if you're offended by what others say, whether their comments were boorish or not. I realize you are trying also to protect others' feelings; and I'm guessing that your intention is to make the site friendlier for others, which is admirable. Others may have a different tolerance level than you do. And Webman has enough to do rather than cater to everyone's individual whims. Just my opinion, though I realize it differs from yours. I do know what you feel like since I have thought Webman should have been stricter with a particular member or two in the past than he was. And stricter than you thought was appropriate. Who knows? He may have been more tolerant with you or me in the past than others thought appropriate. And obviously, both you and I are free to continue to judge others based on their posts and the occasional but rare time that they happen to be leading a contest or daily competition.

I also agree with your comment yesterday that you are tuning out political posts. Difficult to do and will get more so as discussion gets more pointed over the next 5 or 6 months.

Back to Covid19 casino impact. Has anyone been to a casino since they are slowly opening back up across the country? Wondering about observations good or bad. I hear half the machines are turned off and chairs removed for social distancing and they are taking peoples temperature before they can come in. Our home property Horseshoe Bossier City La is now open at 25% capacity. I think they have also opened up the hotel along with one restaurant. We are both in our early 60's and only leave home once a week to get supplies. We went to Lowes the other day and It was packed. I was only one of a couple of people with a mask on. As Texas opens back up, this type of behavior may be one of the reasons covid cases are on the rise here.

I have a feeling that the casinos will be the same way. I think we are almost ready to make our first post covid casino trip. We are both going to be wearing masks. They are a pita but may be the best defense against becoming infected with covid. Along with hand washing and using hand sanitizer. They say that masks only protect others from you but I think they give you protection against the virus as well.

A quick response and then let's drop this diversion. I don't care what folks write in their header. That's why I probably overlooked instructions on how to block content. I have a high tolerance for reading/listening to people's political viewpoints. My comment would have been the same if the view expressed was politically opposite. I am not trying to protect anyone either. Rather, my post was in response to Webman's comment, "So if we could keep political discussions to that one area of the forum, then hopefully there is something for everyone. People who aren't interested can keep out of those topics." Just trying to help his goal of making the site friendlier. Nothing more, Nothing less. The end.
