Ted, I posted the press release from CET and a similar one from MGM in the Recreational Forum. No mention in either about smoking but there is no way someone can wear a mask and smoke at the same time.

Now that would be a sight to see OTA, I wouldn't mind a bit if smoking was banned in all casinos and not just those in Illinois.

At least ban those stinking cigars! They make me want to vomit every time I smell one!

Some of the Suncoast floor employees really need to learn how to respectfully approach their guests about face coverings. One girl approached a man in his 60's/70's playing VP in a rude manner about his face mask, in which he had pulled under his chin as he was sipping on his drink. Long story short, he cashed out, told the girl to f-off, and left the property. Several minutes later, some dude comes over to me as I'm getting ready to take a drink off my Pellegrino and tries to school me on having the face mask on. I tried to tell him I was ready to take a sip and he still proceeded to say you need to have your face mask on. I told him that they really need to start coming at their guests in a more polite manner, or just ban smoking and drinking all together in the casino. With cocktail service being their #2 money maker, that will never happen. A nice little love letter to their GM this weekend just might be in order. I did proudly pull up my new VP.com face mask when I was done taking a sip though!

As a former Las Vegas resident I was floored to read that Fiesta and Texas were going to be closed for a year. I got a letter from Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati today (closest casino to me now) and they are requiring face masks for anyone who enters. No thanks.

Reports are that several casinos will close in Vegas after the weekend.

I prefer to have casino employees speak rudely to me/others about using face masks than taking the "soft" approach: walking past and saying nothing at all. This is what we observe at M Casino. Security guards don't want to engage with customers for fear of offending them, I guess, so they say nothing. IMO, 50% of casino guests at M were NOT wearing masks at the machines. It's worse when people plop next to me because every single machine at M is turned on, and M is also reluctant to ask guests to MOVE.
We were invited to a Fourth of July cocktail party at M . . . hard to believe anyone would be wearing masks if they want to take advantage of many free drinks. Hard to believe anyone will be social distancing, standing in queues for their drinks. No thanks, staying home.
I've read that Sissylack is not happy with the high non-compliance rates at businesses, based on random spot checks throughout the state. A full 1/3 of casinos are allegedly in non-compliance.
* If casinos, bars, restaurants are ordered to close again, they have no one to blame but themselves for their passive "enforcement" of the mandates.
As I've stated before, NO ONE cares about YOU, so take your own precautions when going out. But, don't whine about rude employees trying to do THEIR job. Apparently fines for non-compliance are set.

Honestly, considering their demographics and location, I'm not surprised they closed and sought a one year extension of their casino license.epegoblue wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 6:44 pmAs a former Las Vegas resident I was floored to read that Fiesta and Texas were going to be closed for a year. It's one thing to catch someone NOT in compliance and tell them to put their mask on. The floor staff at Rampart is a great example of how to go about that in a manner that is not confrontational. It is another like at Suncoast who were more like hiding behind a machine just to catch someone lowering their mask to take a sip off their drink and all of the sudden pop out and get snotty with them, so it appears on camera like their doing their job. That is NOT doing their job. They can go EABOD as far as I'm concerned. I for one don't take any sh!t from anyone, however if I'm in the wrong I have no problem admitting my wrong doing and doing whatever is requested. Just don't come at me like a d*ck.DougJ wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 6:28 pmI prefer to have casino employees speak rudely to me/others about using face masks than taking the "soft" approach: walking past and saying nothing at all.
