Why is Ultimate X so popular?
Both on this website and at the casino ultimate x is very popular. Overall, my experience in playing ult x both on this website and at the casino has been an exercise in futility. A little luck here and there but overall a big loser for me. I have had much more luck playing strait up old fashioned video poker, single hand, triple play, five play, and ten play. There is nothing worse than drawing a full house and with a 12 times multiplier only to be dealt a combination of the worst 5 cards in the deck for your next hand. That is what seems to happen to me. I know much of video poker is luck and trying to use volatility to your advantage. Are there things to be tweaked in basic strategy? In 9/5 DDB for instance, which is the best available close to where I live, does playing ult x as opposed to strait up video poker increase or decrease your mathematical chances of winning? Bob Dancer or any other vet out there that has had success playing ult x could you please share any tips to making ult x more profitable for those of us who have had little success playing ult x?

I do not play UltimateX but I know there is a strategy. You do not play using normal max EV single hand strategy. The hold for each hand depends on the current on screen multipliers and also the next hand multipliers you could get. A flush gives you a good multiplier on the next hand. Because of the flush multiplier, some games you hold 3 cards to a flush ( not straight flush ) that normally would be a 5 card discard. Also I see people playing 10 hands probably because the return is a little higher. You only obtain the higher return on a royal flush and maybe a straight flush. The multiplier is higher for those hands on 10 play compared to 3 and 5 play. To me, it is a gimmick to get you to play more hands. How often do you get royals? Also, it is common to get nothing on a 10 hand play when holding a single high card or a low pair (like a pair of 6s). See wizardofodds.com web page for details. This videopoker.com site has an UltimateX trainer in the pro membership.

I have never played ultimate X in casinos though I have in contests on this site. Couldn't agree more with your experience.seemoreroyals wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 6:49 amBoth on this website and at the casino ultimate x is very popular. Ultimate X is very hard to play well. Avoid it if you can, especially the 3 play game. In theory, you have to memorize 34 different strategies since the number of multipliers for the current hand can be from 3x - 36x on DDB, for example. 10 play has a unified strategy.

What do you mean 10 play has a unified strategy?hophoofer wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 11:00 pmUltimate X is very hard to play well. Avoid it if you can, especially the 3 play game. Thanks everyone for your feedback. My best casino friend plays nothing but ult x when he plays video poker. I am intrigued by the success he has had. Over the years I have received countless texts from him or his wife of ult x jackpots. Some of his big hits I have seen for myself. He usually plays three or five play. His advice to me is pay no attention to the paytables, its all luck. Being the logical person that I am I have a hard time accepting that but perhaps he is right.

I, for one, do not think he is right. I would strongly suspect that the total value of all those jackpots does not come even close to the amounts lost otherwise.
I don't want to get into a big argument here, but, in my opinion, a video poker player who believes there is no need to look at pay tables, and that "it's all luck", is, to use a polite term, downright foolish.

UX is a gold mine for casinos due to its popularity and difficult strategy. I think the popularity is due to the potential huge payoffs like a slot machine.
It's also got to be a headache, as its can be one of the most easiest advantage plays up you'll find in a casino.

Finding the leftover multipliers is nearly impossible in AC. It’s a bit easier in local casinos. I made about $500 so far, but it’s extremely tedious.Jstark wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 8:03 amUX is a gold mine for casinos due to its popularity and difficult strategy.
