I love this story, which is often attributed to John Lennon. I doubt he actually said it, as he was raised my his Aunts after his mother disappeared and it wasn't until he was a teenager that they got close. Lennon scholars have searched for the source of this quote for a generation now without success.
In any event, whoever came up with it hit a home run.

Some old guy talked about the pursuit of happiness. Thomas Jefferson was so impressed that he added it into the Declaration of Independence. Isn't it odd that by the time they got around to the Constitution, the powers to be left happiness out of it?

The smile on the kids faces in the hospital is worth more than a Royal. Also when they make a strike in bowling. When I cooked on 3 gas grills at once for a hundred of them, I asked for instance how many hot dogs would you like Joey. He said 12. I said great. How about if you take these 2 for now and come vack and see me if you are still hungry for the rest. Well he did come back but it was to ask me to go up with him to the portable stage while he asked another Downs lady to dance to a Beach Boys song that just came on. Of course I went up with him. They both had a great time.

Chicken soup for the soul. It's hard to go from spending time with kids like that to dealing with the so-called adults in life.

I've read your posts about how you take care of your elderly parents, and also things like this experience lead me to say if more republicans were like you there would be less hostility and strife in general. You don't seem to have the rotten unkind selfish insolent heart that Trump and his base generally have. I'm guessing you have a conscience and a genuine sense of decency toward all people no matter their beliefs or politics. Good for you OldsJetaway. If Im ever in Connecticuts casino country perhaps I'll run into you

Thanks for the kind words. I can’t
answer for our President, only for myself. That said, I do try and treat people as individuals until they prove otherwise to me. I also am a firm believer in law and order and do think Trump has done some things in the right direction. One never gets the entire picture of things from the news. On the surface, it does appear there are problems here and there withe police, but by and large I believe they are good people trying to do a nearly impossible job. I have grown up with and been around both police and Medical professionals my entire life. Both professions have immense challenges. I will say one thing that goes for people no matter what color they are. When a policeman says halt, stop, don’t move etc., do it. I am sure 99.9999 percent of people shot or otherwise died would be alive today if they just did the above. Not being a fly on the wall so to speak in these cases, I am not going to be judge and jury. Hopefully, things and the country will calm down and move back closer together at some point. Right now, that is not looking very good. There is a small element of society as well that will never be reformed and they need to be separated permanently from society. Finally, on a different subject, anyone who visits or even walks through a children’s cancer area or ward in a hospital, will leave that visit with an entirely fresh outlook on things that are important in life. Any of the gang that makes their way to Ct and especially Mohegan Sun, I would love to meet and share coffee and, a beer, or even hang and play a little vp. I find people once they meet in person are an entirely different lot for the most part than the faceless void of the internet. Stay safe and well all.
