Faygo, a man of your vast resources should be able to get a million dollar loan ... just mention what you'll be getting in return and it should be a lock.

I too wish that they would build a Casino that would be for the video poker player, at least if you live in or near Vegas you some competition.  Since the Harrahs take over and the MGM bought Gold Strike it went south (video poker that is).   We would love a Casino that had just a little buffet or Hamburgers and Hot dogs with maybe Ice cream and would just let us play.  We don't mind losing just losing with out feeling that you had a chance or got to play is what it getting to be, but we still go.  went today.

I called all four banks within 35 miles of here. They couldn't scrape up the loot.

I know how you feel.  Harrahs Rincon in San Diego= nicest casino, worst video poker.  I play quarters and there is nothing payable even for me.  All I want is a measly 9/6 DDB quarter machine and the best they have is 8/5.
Might as well take the money out of my wallet and wipe my !@#$% with it.  This way I could save the $20 in gas driving to the casino.

Good thing the other Indian casinos in the area offer somewhat better schedules or I would have to take up knitting!!

I knew I was going to get a lot of flack about the T-shirt post. I like T-shirts!!  I also like coffee mugs!!!  I never seem to find the deals to get them for free.  I liked the story about the fall deal at Binions.  Four fleece jackets!!  My wife would have loved one.

Seriously though, I never seem to get much for free as far a giveaways go.  I don't live in Vegas or real near any gaming so I plan my trips around when I can play rather than when there are promotions going on.

So you guys with closets full of T-shirts and coffee mugs and other stuff have a good laugh on me.  I am still young enough to enjoys the free stuff!!

I too have a closet full of shirts, but I also have a large plastic box that I put all the beach towels, umbrellas, hats, chairs, clocks, cups, glasses, roll arounds, and too many other stuff to mention if it has a casinos name on it it goes in the box.   If at Christmas I wrap all the unnamed items up and give them to friends or even people that aren't friends.  When my son or daughter comes home from college, with their friends I make them close their eyes and put their hand in the box for a present.  They have fun with this and I get to give the stuff away, other than carring it to the good will.   At one of the Casinos we play you have to use your comps within a 72 hour frame,  If we are playing their sometimes we can get a lot more comps than we can use, (usually one of us can get 2 buffets-don't do the Steakhouses takes too long to get the food+they want a $20 tip for bringing me water and bread) so I get Chocolate lots of chocolate they are in wrappers and cost about .50-.75 each imagine $50-100 dollars of this,  this I put in the freezer and take to work or put out for Son and daughter friends, or let him take it to the Duck camp.  College kids eat a lot of everything and their friends do too.   I am worse than the Jean Scott woman, were as if the Casinos are giving it away I want one, so says my wife a woman who want even ask for a buffet let along a room I have to do all that.  As long as the Casinos don't put these free things on a W2 or report it to the government I will continue to get every thing I can.  Hope you do too.

I like playing the progressive $1 9/6 Jacks or Better at Bally's AC.  I get a minimum return of 99.54% and just under 0.23% cash back on my next trip.  The frequently have special promotions where I can get at least 5x bonus comps.  The comps are 0.10%, but they can be converted into gift cards (including gas cards) at 50% ($50 in comps for $25 gift card).  Occasionally they have special days where you can redeem your comp dollars for 50% in cash, and last January they had a special (but not for everyone) where I redeemed all of my comp dollars 1:1 for cash.

If I play with 5x bonus comps, that is 0.60% comps which is about 0.30% cash value (assuming they never have a 1:1 deal to redeem for cash again).  Combined with 0.23% cash back and 99.54% EV, that is a return of 100.07%.  Even if the gift cards are worth slighly less than there stated value, this is still a 100% return.  And this doesn't count the added EV when the progressive jackpot is substantially higher than $4,000.

You only need 10,000 points per year to get and keep a Diamond card, and that is 20,000 hands at $5/hand ($1 with maximum bet).  With that, you get free food and drinks at the Diamond Club and don't need to use your comps for food.  You also get free parking, express lines for everything, and the casino employees are nicer to you.  I also try to plan my trips when they have a number of good offers for extra cash back.

Additionally there is much less worry that your comps expire.  You only have to play once every 6 months (at any Harrah's property), and they even have a rewards credit card.  I don't think 1% comp dollars is much of a reward, but if you aren't going to gamble for 6 months you can just charge something for at least $1.00 on the card.  As long as you get 1 point from using the credit card that restarts the 6 month period.  I don't have one of these cards but I think I'm going to get one just in case I decide to give up gambling for awhile.

Alan, thanks for the good example of how one can understand the full value of playing at a particular casino. Too often people ONLY look at the paytables (or nothing at all ) and that might not be the whole story.
