Fuschia,

Sorry I didn't see your post sooner.  Been away a while.

Absolutely ask to speak to a host.  I'm rather surprised that one didn't seek you out.  Depends on the house of course but I've had hosts plead to give me a players card and a little something at places I'm not even staying.

You say you like the "mega-resorts" because of of the rooms, food, location.  The problem with these places is that even good players get overlooked because of the sheer volume of players at any given time.  This is how I ended up with NYNY as my favorite house.  The hosts and staff there are very receptive to all levels of play not just the whales.

Contact the casino of choice and ask them about "wiring" money to the cage.  If for example, you are going for 4 days and expect to play $3000 each day for a total budget of $12000, wire $10000 to the cage.  This forces the casino to take notice because you must activate your deposit upon arriving.

Now, when hubby wants to throw the dice, he can get a marker against the deposit and this instinctively makes the pit boss take notice.  A boss who pays attention to a players action will do a better job of "rating" that play.

And most important, don't be afraid to seek out a host, either at the VIP area or by asking a pit boss or other personnel.  The offers will normally get better once you've established a relationship with a host.  Let them know you like their house after you've played for a while.  They can tell you down to the nickel what your average slot pull was and how long and for how much hubby was betting the dice.  They want to develop devoted players and are normally willing to "take care of you" to keep your business.

I just got back from Vegas and played at the Wynn for the second time.

This is a great casino. Air quality is very good, spacing is generous, pay tables decent, drink servers
hot, seating is comfortable and overall a relaxing environment. I found it easier to focus on the game here and I think it may have made a difference. Over two, four hour sessions I hit multiple quads including Aces w/kicker playing 10 play DDB, .25. Needless to say, I like this place.   [IMG]smileys/smiley2.gif" align="middle" /> Both the wife and I got a card and we joined points. We are moderate players but have not paid for a room in Vegas for some time now. I'll let the forum know if my moderate play gets me any comps at the Wynn. We only played one day there but we played the same as if we were at our comp hotel the MGM.

I just got an invite for three comp nights at the Wynn during specific dates in December and January. So I guess moderate play can earn you room comps. Next trip, probably in April, I'll call the Wynn and see what they can do. Wherever you play.....get the card!!

vpguy3,
Did you receive your offer by e or snail mail?  Did you ask for a host when you played at Wynn?  You describe your play as moderate.    How do you define moderate and what games do you like to play?  Just wondering what I would need to do to get the same offer you did as I just returned from there (and did get the card).  Happy Holidays!

One more thing regarding the cards.  Most players clubs are now linked to multiple casinos and the information from one casino must be shared with them all.  As an example, I only played at Ballagio for about an hour or so playing $25 pai gow.  This game doesn't rate out very well because many hands result in a push and therefore, no win for the casino.  But, I was staying at NYNY so about a month after that trip, I received a 3-night comp with food from Ballagio.  The only thing that would make any sense is that the play posted at all the MGM resorts was used to determine my overall level of play.  Then, since I'd "shown my face" at Ballagio, they decided to try and get some of my business.

I've never spoken to anyone in the business about this but it certainly makes sense.  I never would have thought of staying at Rio because of it's location off-strip.  But because I'm a diamond card holder with Harrah's, I get just as many free night offers at Rio as I do their other casinos.

Just another reason to "Get The Card".

I received the offer by snail mail, I did not ask for a host. Wife and I each played about $300/session but coin in would have surpassed that greatly. I play mostly DDB, 10 play, $.25 and the wife plays a mix of VP (deuces) and slots. I also relax by occasionally playing slots. I also receive room comp offers from MGM, Bellagio and NYNY, of course all of these (not the Wynn) are on the same card.

Thanks, sounds like our play is slightly below yours.  We play the same games although I'm particurly fond of JB Super Times Pay.  Have fun if you go in April.  We're hoping to head out again in Feb. and stay at the Wynn again.

It doesn't take much to get good comps in Vegas, you just have to ask and have a good host.  I'm a penny and nickle player (because I like the multi line action) I stay at the Harrah's properties in both Vegas and Laughlin.  I stay most of the time at the Rio and have a great casino host there.  She will comp me my suite, food, etc on every trip.  I haven't paid for a room or food in Vegas or Laughlin in at least 3 years.  The bottom line... get a host at every casino you go to!

When I was in Vegas Halloween week I wanted to cash in all these offers I had been getting online for a year since my last visit.  It was a lot of work to get my comps at MGM Grand, NYNY and Flamingo-although my Harrah's platinum card got me and my peeps to the front of the line at the Flamingo breakfast buffet(my favorite in LV).

I stay at Wynn frequently and you will love the rooms.  Go to the Country Club Grill for a steak.  They do have 4 full pay machines .  They are located near the Red 8 .  They do have many 9/6 JOB machines and 9/6 DDB machines.  Have fun, it's a beautiful place.
