Bob Dancer has joined the group

Post by oej719 »

I see that we have Bob Dancer as a new member. I bet in just a short time we all will be high rollers. Wonder how long it will be before Fa La La La La.... La la la la joins our group. Has anyone ever noticed those two guys names.

Bob Dancer
Fa La La La La.... La la la la

Both are a form of Robert. One a dancer and one a Fa La La La La.... La la la la.

Both of their names are pen names --- not their real names. Fa La La La La.... La la la la chose his as a direct play on Dancer's pen name. I know them both and these are not their real names.

oej719  How do you know the identity of the forum poster?
I admit I did notice some more knowledgeable explanations from some new members. The thread about penalty cards was very enlightening. TY Shadowman.

YW.

By the way, if Bob does start posting, you will see he is much more knowledgeable on a wide variety of VP subjects.

Ohio Bob,
I did not say he posted. I noticed when I logged on that the name of the newest member was Bob Dancer. I wish he would start posting.
Give us some knowledge.

In fact, they have completely different styles. Dancer (not his real name) is a firm believer in advantage VP, while Fa La La La La.... La la la la (not his real name) is a firm believer in opportunity VP.

In other words, Dancer believes that if you play over a set period of time and take advantage of optimal play and all available comps, you can turn a profit. Fa La La La La.... La la la la believes that lucky opportunities are presented to players and you must grab them and go, using maximum discipline. Fa La La La La.... La la la la also believes in gradually increasing denomination and volitility until you hit, a theory that Dancer does not endorse.

Of the two, Dancer has perhaps been more open and transparent in documenting his winnings, while with Fa La La La La.... La la la la we are asked to take his word. Both men are quite sincere, but the serious VP player needs to ask himself/herself: If these guys are so good, why can they not make a fancy living from playing VP instead of being forced to sell books and give lessons?

In my own personal experience, I have been able to put a modification of Fa La La La La.... La la la la's program to good use, turning a modest profit in 6 of the past 7 years. However, I could never quit my day job based on my VP earnings!!!

oej719...OK my mistake I didn`t notice the new member name. What do you suppose the odds are that that is the "real" Bob Dancer!  Probably have better chance of finding 10/6 DDbl bonus on the strip in Vegas! than Bob Dancer here!

Ohio Bob....I tend to think it probably is Dancer.  I do hope he posts.  We'll know pretty quick one way or the other won't we

As for earning a living at VP or any other form of gambling in casinos (sans tournament poker and possibly Tournament Blackjack), I think it is getting harder and harder to do it exclussively as a source of income.  Several years ago, the table games anyway, were much easier to beat.  The rules were better and the casinos were not quite so paranoid of APs.  These days, I would think you would either have to augment income with other indulgences like writing or teaching seminars, or you would have to have a huge bankroll to gamble with....maybe both!

Having the bankroll is almost contradictory.  I mean, If I had a couple hundred thousand bucks to gamble at high enough stakes to earn enough to quit all other employment, I'd not need to be working.  I'd take the money and invest it in something that would have a larger expected return than gambling.  Wise stock market ventures, buying a business, something like that.  And if that were the case, I'd probably just gamble as a form of entertainment.

But even as a form of entertainment, I'd still want to play at the best advantage I could obtain and to that end, I have no qualms at all in purchasing the expertise of folks like Dancer who I have heard by reputation, are worthy of listening to.  I don't mind paying for knowledge that I can use.
