NEW YEARS EVE at Paris in Vegas

Post by marie meijer »

Paris Casino, Vegas, knows how to throw a great New Year's Eve Party, PLUS! We received an invitation in the mail. It included three nights, New Years Eve and New Years Day buffet breakfasts. We dined on stuffed Maine lobster and fillet multi-course gourmet dinner to fun music by approx 20 member NRG (as in ENERGY) band-vocalists-back up dancers. Indescribable lengths created a fairy woodland setting including dolls and live, winged models on swings, arbor and abundant foliage in a grand hallway. This theme continued inside the Grand Ballroom and on round tables seating ten.  A three foot tall, surprise and welcome goody package was delivered to our room. Included: Large champagne bottle, two glasses, pretzels, caramel corn, cheese popcorn, key lime fudge! and huge candy apple, in silver-colored, graduated size, stackable boxes. Photo opportunity. Included at place settings: disposable camera, hats, noise makers, horns, clear goblets with silver metal fairy gracing the stem. The masses surged outside at midnight to view stunning fireworks at Planet Hollywood from Paris and we could also view fireworks at three other casinos on the strip. It was an exciting and memorable time! Guestimate 96% wore black and someone quipped in the elevator "Looks like we're all going to a funeral!" YES!

OUCH! Had to burst my bubble didn't you! It seems not ONE VP machine at 10 casinos has four deuces! and it was down hill depressing from there! Four aces popped up twice on DDB and that was about it. Further, our red-eye flight home this morning was delayed two hours and we arrived at 7:30 AM to winter wonderland. I am through gambling!? Went to Fashion Show mall to catch shuttle to Red Rock Casino. Driver talked us out of going by saying IF there were not room on return shuttle for NON GUESTS we would be stuck with 20 mile $50 taxi ride. I had called Red Rock for shuttle schedule before leaving home.  Why take that chance when Gold Coast had an 8X comps on N Y Day! Wish four of you had been there to help us eat our $10.99, 16 oz. T bone dinners at Monterey Room that Mr Wonderful had to try. Good as it was, we left half. They just added Chinese menu: Fortune cookie: You will travel and come into fortune. At least the first part was true. Cheers!

Now THAT sounds like some party!  I've often thought of spending NYEve in Vegas, but can't stand the thought of the drive home on I-15, which is BAD on a good day.Now back to the gambling.  Did you find any good machines at Paris? We have  stayed there, loved it, love the food options, but the VP is blah!Good thing you can toddle over to Ballys or Caesers for a change of luck,,,,,,,,,,,,,It must have been fun at midnight!

Paris: I sadly blew most of my first day bank roll where the bulk of the VP machines are located, trying a variety of machines. However, there is a carousel of uprights far from that grouping, near a restaurant and directly next to a bar, that produced for DW or DDB, and a $4000 RF on my LAST visit playing DW. Next to that carousel is a row of desk-slant VP machines that lacks DW and DDB. I hit 4 aces on DB there and other quads. Several others were hitting aces and other quads at both the slants and uprights, including $2000 aces playing $2. Carousel is usually full of players. No other VP machines are near those two sets. PALMS has row of uprights: 10/7 DB and 10/6 DDB just inside the doors closest to Gold Coast. Also, marked "100%" DDB, 10/6, row of uprights, just inside the exterior doors near the theater and fast foods section. Palms has LDW and NSUD.

From our 25th floor room at Paris facing the strip we could see the signs from Caesars to Mandelay Bay and all the panorama of lights in between! Too cool! Every time the Bellagio fountain began to roar, we ran laughing to the window with empty, dry drinking glasses in hand to place open side against the window. Better to hear the fountain music! Tried not to press too hard against the window and hoped the window would not give way - it was a loooong way down!

Were you trying to fill your glasses from the fountain?
