Bd-they are probably going to lose me and my husband as well-and we play 2 or 3 weekends a month. Thats ridiculous. The partial ban was working well I thought. I am welling to settle for less of a choice of games but an area I can smoke. I cant imagine that in this day and age that they cant come up with a ventilation system that works! Going outside to smoke is not the point-we like to sit at the machine with a cup of coffee and a cig-or maybe hit a good hand a celebrate with a drink and a smoke! Its part of the whole experience.

Aint that a darn shame! I've never been to AC and it looks like I may not visit now. There are several air recirculation systems on the market but it seems as though the casinos aren't willing to spend the money. Many Nevada casinos have them installed and walking in doesn't smell like the smoky casinos of old, in fact it's pretty nice, even for one who smokes. I like a smoke and a cup of Joe or a glass of JD once in awhile.

[QUOTE=Bd131]Just to let everyone know the Atlantic City council just passed a complete smoking ban for all casinos. This vote occured this evening.
You will not catch me dead in AC from this point forward.
You will not catch as many others dead from secondary smoke either.

Good Bye AC!    BD Where is Washington PA? I'm waiting for the time when you can't drink alcohol in public and when you can't get a Burger. Maybe it's time to start disposing of all old and infirm people too.

The AC City Council has just cut off their nose to spite their face. Revenues are down, Casinos are fighting for every customer. Mailers, phone calls, all kinds of perks including cash just for showing up. The revenues from the Casinos have been rebuilding the City slowly but surely and now?

Boops, I agree . It seems like acommendations could have been doable.

Oh well, I guess more people will now get out of this life alive.

Just think Faygo, all those extra millions of people alive because they didn't breathe second-hand smoke but who's gonna care for them? Donald Trump made a valiant effort to postpone the ban or cut the smoking section down even more but no dice. City council did allow casinos to install smoking rooms but without gaming of any sort.

Faygo,

Washington Pa is 20 miles southwest of Pittsburgh. The Meadows is really a harness racing track that was awarded a casino license last spring. Since then they have been one of the biggest per machine income casino in the east. They offer many more poker machines than you would normaly find at competing casinos. Payout has ben very good.

Thanks Bd, that is only a couple of hours further than AC. When their precious Boardwalk rots under their feet, they might wise up.

Faygo,

If your interested the Hollywood casino near Harrisburg Pa is really nice. They offer the same games as the Meadows, their casino is styled like an old hollywood movie house.

Thanks, been to the one they have in Tunica. They were among the better gambles there.

Thanks for all the great replies to my questions concerning 9/6 VP.  I don't mind playing $1, but don't quite have the cash for the $2 and $5, therefore the high limit area at the Hilton is out of my range.  Although I quit smoking a few years ago, I have no problem playing in a smoking area and frankly find the people to be friendlier!  I must have missed the 9/6 machines, or, for some reason, I tend to play DW in the area near the boardwalk; I'll have to check more closely when I return in June.  As far as I remember, aren't there just one long row with Game Kings (or whatever they are called) on both sides, for a total of about 20 machines in the 25 cents up in the smoking area?  Do you know if this is the area with the 9/6?  I also have used the jitneys, but tend to stick to one (or two at the most) casinos because of the comps; hence my play is at the Trop and Hilton for the most part.

Again, thanks for all your help.  (BTW, Hilton 23 is the same as Trop 23; for some reason it wouldn't take my former password for the Forum!)
