Stay and Play Vp

Post by duckhunter »

If you were to come to Vegas for the first time and love to play VP (we have never seen a Full Pay DDB machine, I believe Ms has a law against it really) where would you stay that would let you visit other Casinos that had good play and feel safe?  We us the room for little sleep and shower/baths, rooms need to be clean, we play a lot. Food not that important, need to lose weight anyway.
Would you rent a car? In fair shape, but don't want to walk 5 miles a day want to play.
If any of you plan to ever come to Tunica I can help with any information.  I know most of you get these questions all the time but I appreciate any information.  Thanks.

MS limits paybacks of VP machines to 100%. That doesn't disallow ALL full pay machines, only positive machines. There used to be a few >100% machines but I've heard they are all gone now. When I was in Tunica I played the One-eyed Jacks (over 100%), but I haven't been there for around 5 years now. There are other states with limitations as well. For example, Wisconsin also limits machines to 100% and Minnesota limits them to 98%.

I think it comes from pure stupidity. Especially in MN where there get almost no revenue from the Indian casinos.

It's the same here in CO, 100.0% tops.

It depends on who is determining that 100% cap.  If it's the casinos, then it's stupidity (as shadowman says).  Their thinking is probably that their profit margins would be hurt in a given location by casinos getting into bidding wars for customers by offering games with higher and higher returns.  One casino offers 10/7 DB at 100.17%, another says, "oh, yeah?  Take this!" and begins offering FPDW at 100.76%.  Etc., etc.

IMO, the casinos would probably INCREASE their profit margins if they allowed positive return games.  The games >100% require near-perfect play, so most players would be <100% anyway.  The casinos would also attract more players by advertising those kinds of returns.  Most of their games would continue to be negative return, they'd just have some of the positive return ones scattered here and there.

I remember the one eyed jacks they were at the Grand, and like you said I believe that they are gone.  Harrahs bought the Grand, Sheraton, and Horseshoe this changed the VP and cash back ect.  the Gold strike was bought by MGM ( this was really bad).  Resorts which bought out Harrahs at their one Casino in Tunica till they brought the above.  Their are no 2x, 5x or any times advertised, nothing like what they have in Vegas.  We play a lot and usually get rooms and food with no problem (usually go in the middle of the week) probably the same out their.  I wish I would have started a hog farm with all the food I see thrown away I would be rich, dirty but rich.

They will pick you up in limo at the airport for a very small fee (call their 800 number).  From Ballys you can walk to several major properties without much effort.  You can take the person-movers to get across LV Blvd to either Bellagio or Caesers.  From Ballys casino you walk through to Paris.  Which is my favorite place to stay.  Also from Ballys you can take the same person-mover to get over to Bills gambling hall (use it as a hallway during bad weather, or stop and have a moment watching Big Elvis in their lounge). After you cruise through Bills you can go into the Flamingo, check out the gardens and don't miss Margaritaville.  If you're not a Jimmy Buffet fan, you'll love the food and the atmosphere upstairs. "It's  five o'clock somewhere"!  At Ballys you will be able to access the trams and most of the shuttles to go elsewhere.  To get to Winn (if you must) I would suggest a cab ride.  Personally I don't think you will need to rent a car for a first trip.  Good luck
