Just a little heads up, Amphora will be closed Tuesday, February 27 and Wednesday, February 28. Also they added single line Quick Quads to the Five Star machines right outside the high limit room. They also added 2 Five Star machines in the High Limit Room too. Did fairly well last week on them. Still can't post pic, only getting a black screen.
The reason for the Amphora was closed those days. They install new & larger TV in the dinning area.
Looks Great.
I haven't been to the Borgata in a few years, but decided to do a quick walk through the other day. I have to say I was disappointed. The surface parking lot was a mess, and the outdoor escalator is all boarded up. Once in, there is construction everywhere. I did find one very dirty slant top quarter 9/6 job in a heavy smoking area near the sports betting. Is that all that is left? I doubt I will return.
That’s exactly how I feel about the property. I wondered if I was being too harsh. But your assessment rings true. That escalator has been out of order forever. Caesars had a ton of construction last year, but their facelift has really done wonders. Borgata’s actual VP is a joke. Downgraded machines. If you do find full pay, it’s a miracle and the machines are absolute wrecks. I don’t go to enjoy their brilliant sculptures.
What a shame. I will never set foot in a dirty smoking casino again. The no smoking policy doesn’t seem to have hurt Mohegan Sun at all. People are actually thrilled how clean they keep the property. Every 20 feet or so you will find sanitizing dispensers and wipes. When young, the wife and I loved AC. Too bad we won’t be going back unless they clean up their act and ban smoking indoors there.
Bad first impression when the escalator is the first thing seen on arrival and it’s perpetually busted. Plenty of alternatives. 10,788 February jackpots. I suspect that’s 95% slot zombies. It’s definitely doing brisk business.
One more reason I miss the drive down to A/C. I used to love to hot foot it out of the many Garden State tolls without cutting anyone off, tailgating, or any Bizarro behavior. One time long before Borgata was built on our way to Harrah’s Marina, a state trooper chased me down for a hot footing it out of the toll. I guess he could see that other than flying out of the tollbooth. I didn’t do anything crazy and backed off on the gas about a half mile down the road. At any rate, I was very lucky at the time I had my olds 442 which was extremely fast and since it was a 1965, it was already a classic and all original. He gave me a lecture well-deserved and let me go without a ticket!!!! Can’t say that I never hotfoot it again out of the garden, state tolls, but at least on that trip down and back I didn’t. I think it was in the early or mid 1980s. We liked Marina a lot and usually took the boat ride while we were there. I can’t remember ever staying over at Harrah’s. Budgets were tight and we were in our 30s. if I remember our bankroll was less than 300 bucks. I can only remember going to The Sands, Harrahs Marina, playboy, Resorts, and Caesars. 6 trips a year would have been the most. This summer I think we will just take a trip down there even if we don’t patronize the smoky casinos much, we liked the boardwalk, fresh air and other venues here and there I would like to check out Borgata anyway, I could stay on the house at resorts world due to my status at Mohegan Sun I think. Does Borgata charge for parking?
