Hey Gamblingirl,  I can remember when Caesars was so much better, VP wise.  Not to mention that cheap-a$$ Harrahs took out the refreshment stations!!  I can't stand to have to wait for a server or go to the bar for a soft drink!! I know, I know, but I don't like to "drink" while I'm gambling. LOL.  It's bad enough sober!

I used to get a fair amount of cashback there, and always a couple free rooms a week, free buffets, etc.  It seems to be the going trend there to substitute the good-decent pay tables for lower ones for sure.  The fourth deck use to be awesome before they remodeled!

And welcome to the forum!!

here's a link to a site that lists the best vp games at the casinos mentioned in this thread.....http://members.cox.net/vpfree/M.htm

Casino's are all about the bottom line and the bottom line is that most people will play the low pay tables any way. We've all seen players on low play machines right next to empty machines with better pay back. There is no reason for the casino to change. One or two decent machines to bring in the serious Vp player and thats about it.If the machines are full what do you do..you play something  else!

I agree that folks will play bad tables. And I find that the more gimmicks in the game (Super Times Pay, Chase the Royal, etc.) the less the payback for the game is.

People get bored with JOB, and that is why other games with higher quad returns are attractive. I like JOB, but I do get bored with it.

I did get a report that VP in West Virginia was terrible, and 10 coin max bets with auto-hold. I HATE autohold machines - but that is another thread...

I have to get to French Lick one day. It looks like a nice place from their website.

Ok, I did go to Wheeling Island in West Virginia for the Super Bowl Sunday poker tournament. I never did play in the tourney (overslept) but did play poker, and lost about $60

The video poker is HORRIBLE!! No JOB, Just bonus, db, ddb, and jp. Only .25 and up.

The bonus pay table was 8/5/4/3/1/1!!! To boot, you only got full pay on the royal if you played 20 coins!!!!! Autohold on all machines.

Poker room is nice, but the rake is 10% - $5 max, no bad beat.

Absolutely no reason to go if you are a VP player - none.

Thanks for the information on Wheeling Downs.  Never been there and from you said no reason to go.  Believe Wheeling and Argosy about equal distance from Columbus.  Was hoping to make an Argosy trip before visiting Vegas in May.  Does not look like that is going to happen.

Good luck and win a lot of money on your trip.  Interested to hear how you do.  Never been to that casino, so unfortunately no words of wisdom.

OK - as promised (I know it is a bit late, but here it is...).
The belterra trip was nice, great rooms and the place is always clean.

As for the VP selection, I could not find any full pay games. I played DDB 8/5. They have remodeled a bit, so the VP area downstairs is a bit bigger. They also added VP and slots in the poker room (they took away some of the tables that were never used and added some slots and .50 and up VP - still not full pay.

Decent selection of other non-standard VP as well (stp, multi-strike, etc.).

So, there is the news. I did win at live poker, but no wims at VP.

Thanks for the update.  At least you won playing live poker and the hotel sounds very  nice from your description.

The hotel at Belterra is superb. I really enjoy staying there.

I did go again yesterday and found a .50 multi-denom VP in the poker room. The DDB at that was 9/5, so close to full pay. I played and hit 4 aces and 4 two's w/ kicker! $800 for the two of 'em!

So, a better trip this time!
