Maybe. Hard to say. Sometimes they are restricted to on what they can offer. It varies trip to trip. One time I may get a 3,000 sq foot suite and another just a basic room in the cheaper tower. I’m fine with a basic room anyway. Usually just shower, 2-4 hours sleep and I’m gone. Too much time spent gambling on the floor.

FAA: try to go at the same time each visit, try to connect with the same person each time, they will remember you if you tip. Sometimes getting into a room at check in is better than an upgrade. Ask for an upgrade, if they can they will and will tell you so. Then tip when you get the keys. If they can’t, $5 and say thanks for trying maybe next time.

In retrospect, I overreacted. I stalked off after hearing I got the cheaper tower and was unwilling to pay for the upgrade. With all your stays at your second home, you've really had to be flexible. I need six hours sleep plus AM pool/gym, shower and leave. I'd really have to milk the clone to give myself plenty of play and hope the premiums don't come early on. I know my rooms are restricted. Management would deal with clerks upgrading me, I'm sure.

Front desk clerks have a fair amount of lattitude when it comes to upgrading a room at check- in.

Wish they used that juice when I needed it. I felt as miserable as if I’d had a casino bust trip.

This is an excellent discussion thread, very good suggestions and tips and information, thanks to all for posting, I have learned some new things and prespectives!

I have never really concerned myself with room upgrades in the past, due to my philosophy and objectives when I do happen to visit a establishment where I plan on also staying in a room for a period of time. I am happy to have a bed and a bathroom that is clean and functional, period. I will only be sleeping in the room so anything else is kinda redundant or pointless. But I can certainly understand wanting a bigger or better room if someone is visiting for more than a couple days and has family or freinds with them, or maybe has medical issues and needs more space, etc. I guess I plan on spending maximum waking hours in the gaming area, or if its vegas, site seeing and exploring the constantly evolving scene! Along the US border in and around Niagra, and in Toronto or Ontario, there are many things to see and do in between gaming sessions.

What a difference six weeks makes. I got the new tower without so much as raising the issue! I love mingling with the seagulls and an ocean view on 56. It’s more like 33. Wacky numbering system here. As I left the desk, the other clerk asked a patron, “Do you have a preference as to tower?” I was flabbergasted given the histrionics I went through to no avail last trip. I was a happy camper too. A $400 hit after an hour had me packing it in and setting in for a night of TV. Long 350 foot walk to old tower gym/pool amenities is the only down side.

So, let me see if I understand; you were satisfied with the COMPED room but complain about it anyway? You complain about the burden of having to WALK 350' to the FITNESS CENTER/GYM? Where a person would go to exercise?

Does your family just get you gift cards for Christmas and your birthday for fear of getting you something that you would not like, or appreciate?

Who took the picture of you in the Chaise Lounge?

I explicitly wrote “happy camper.” I shockingly spotted a patron with ice in his veins braving the chill for his Vitamin D fix. It’s a tedious winding walk even after two cups of coffee. I could have used rollerblades. Nowhere near AC’s truly sprawling Tropicana complex, but it’s still a challenge. Mercifully, rooms still provide coffee.

My apologies kind sir. I erred in thinking that; wacky numbering system here, flabbergasted given the histrionics, and the long 350 foot walk to the old tower gym/pool amenities as the only downside, as complaining. Silly me. Did you toke housekeeping for the extra water?
