Hopefully, we can keep it up.
We didn't. Day two was a reminder of how dreadful video poker can be, at times. We played just half as much as the previous day, and lost a combined $2200, $1200 for me, and $1000 for my wife. Our return was just barely 90% on about $25000 of play. Quads were in extremely short supply, and premium ones almost non existent. Yuck!

Yeah, now that’s more representative of recent trips. The old numbing 90% experience. So long suckers, come back soon!

When we started our trips to Laughlin many years ago, we played 9/6 JOB at Harrahs (usually 50 line 5c), and when we wanted to try something different, there were several casinos offering full pay deuces wild.
I'm surprised that Laughlin doesn't rank well statistically. Going back 35 years, Laughlin has been consistently worse than average for Nevada slot holds.

UNLV has a 20-year summary, PDF here:

https://gaming.library.unlv.edu/reports ... t_hold.pdf

Laughlin ranks 2nd-worst in Nevada; only the Vegas Strip has been tighter.

The 20-year winner is Reno.

I haven’t been able to find 9/6 JOB nickel games since we took a few side trips to downtown in Aruba No TITOs then either. We both filled up the tray with nickels by hitting Royals 5 minutes apart.

That's hard to find now outside of Nevada. A few Nevada casinos have it for pennies & up, on multi line machines. Locations are downtown Henderson, Mesquite, and Reno-Sparks.

If you settle for 8/5 Bonus, Golden Nugget Laughlin has a couple of penny & up Spin Poker Deluxe machines.

I used to like 8/5 bonus though I missed the extra for the FH and Flush. Mohegan yanked them years ago but left 9/6 quarters and up intact. Go figure that one. But no multiline or spin 9/6 games at Mohegan. Just to emphasize how insane vp can be, as I was just leaving and playing All Star 2 for lunch money the other day, a guy sits down right next to me also on an All Star 2, bad table, plays max bet quarters 25 bucks 10 play and wins 10 k in 10 minutes. 3 hand pays. 2800, 2,000, 5200, all aces and Royals. I was just playing nickels. Already posted the dealt straight flush on deuces for my lunch money. He was playing DDB with some sort of Frenzy gimmick hands

Thanks for thought and four leaf clover. Unfortunately, it didn't do its job (or, we didn't do ours), and the trip turned out to be a financial bust.

Our third day in Laughlin, again playing at the Tropicana, was considerably better than day two, but was still a negative $600 for me, and somewhat worse for my wife.

As we usually do, we stopped at Seneca Niagara for a couple of nights before completing the trip home yesterday. But, there was no magic there, either, as we both continued our losing ways.

In total, our "free trip" where we paid next to nothing for air fares, accommodations, and food cost us about $7000 - one of our worst trips, financially, in a long, long time.

Sometimes one cannot believe after hours and hours that the VP never turned around at all. I had one of those sessions last night playing 98.8 deuces, wild bonus, spin poker. I never even hit a wild royal flush and I think only one five of a kind. Nothing better and that was after five hours playing 3-5 lines. I had to shut down my Martingale Clone to leave a few hundred to play today. Believe it or not 97.5 triple spin poker regular deuces, wild bailed me out, except for a few bucks. I hope you enjoyed at least the rest of the trip Iike dinner, breakfast, relaxing, and so forth. I know sometimes it’s hard to separate a bad video poker session from the rest of the trip. Maybe your next outing you will hit something almost as soon as you walk through the door. I have had that happen several times after a terrible session or two. Stay safe and well. Olds.

Better luck next time.

May I ask, how's your satisfaction with mail offers and comps?

I hear bad things about the Row. They flipped my offers and invites to zero, and other vp players have indicated the same. But I still have other benefits such as self-comping through the hotel calendar, and I'm not promo-banned.

I'm considering bigger than usual Laughlin action on the upcoming 10x TCs, but I'm afraid the impact will be dampened by my previous low play. I'm not clear on the relationship between Harrah's and Tropicana. They send separate offers, but are linked for some promotions.

Sorry to hear how your trip turned out financially. Hopefully, the rest of the trip went well and that your next trip turns out to be terrific all the way around.
