No paytables or perfect pay entered into those hands....sometimes the machines are just hitting.  Keep the faith everyone.First, a huge congratulations on the win!  Fantastic! But, the thought you ended with gave me pause to contemplate.  Of course, you are right that strategy didn't have much to do with landing those jackpot hands any more than strategy had anything to do with the Dealt Royal I had this past weekend on single line. However, it IS strategy that keeps you alive "financially" while you are playing "the other" 99.9999999% of the time.  Strategy gives you the best chance to maintain your bankroll with the flushes and straights and baby 4trees while your quest continues for that monster hit.I have to remind myself of that when I encounter those tempting 3RF draws that I know I should be tossing for the more conservative outcomes that strategy calls for.As for Paytables, the last Royal I hit prior to this past weekend happened on a DDB machine with 6/5 paytables!  No selfrespecting VPer would even consider playing that machine !  But it did pay off the same 4,000 credits that a 10/6 DDB machine pays!

I agree with all of what you say MikeA!

Thanks to you guys I am really trying to hit the strategy cards hard...I didn't realize before how many poor decisions I was making.  Because I like playing so many different games, I'll probably never become a master of one but hopefully adequate with several!

6/5????     Those were the paytables in the Vegas airport that I eschewed in favor of a book!!

Congratulations mama! Keep studying and stay loyal to the program. As Mike stated, it's real easy to deviate from perfect play with so many mini hands next to correct holds. 6/5? out of desperation or all other options exhausted but I've seen so many machines at various denominations at only the 6/5 level. Easier to give in than to travel to another casino to find a better pay schedule. Thats where they got you by the golden nuggets.

Sure you have the option to NOT play. Question is how BADLY (pun intended)do you want to play? Thus I stated, easier to give in than to go to another casino with better paytables. 99.9% of the time, I'm gonna go and find something better, count on it but every so often, Wifey may not want to go to another houseso I'm stuck with the dillemna of playing poor paytables, playing slots or JUST NOT PLAYING!

I don't mind playing 1 coin bets on a 6/5 table. You know how long you can stretch out a $5 or $10 spot? My friend and I started out that way playing nickels 1 coin per hand on a 3 or 5 play machine. This was back in the middle 90's and I really had no clue as to what I was doing other than looking for what was on the paytable masking and basic poker hands. I couldn't figure out why they would only pay Jacks or better. Thats how rookie I was.

I had to get in on this action.  I also agree with all of what has been said.  Mike, lucky for you that you have Black Jack to go to.  I seem to have an aversion for table games although I like to hit the black or red on the roulette wheel sometimes with the match bet coupons.
That said, I have recently been going to lower denom. machines while riding out this cold spell I have been having.  I have not played nickels in years since I started playing at the quarter level.  I forgot how bad the nickel pay schedules are and it seems that you can almost fly through a small bankroll just as fast.   California Indian casinos seem to have settled on 7/5 for DDB nickels some where in their pacts.  In three sessions I have not had a win yet.  Granted I am taking about half what I used to use for quarters.  It almost doesn't seem worth it.  I probably will try a few more times before I decide whether or hang it up for a while or to continue on at the nickel level.   On the other hand, it is easy to find 9/6DDB at the quarter level here.  But you still have to get lucky.  That seems to be the main ingredient!

And thats the Golden State truth! You can find better paytables for nickels CLWN, but you have to go looking for them. 9/6 is about the best you're gonna find in Ca. Anybody seen better?please insert Casino name here! Hopefully with the new compacts passed, they might install some more VP
