Well, that idea was short-lived as I got the math wrong. Would be nice though.

Cashback only on deposits, so you'd have to churn heavy volume of deposits and withdrawals. Which they won't tolerate indefinitely. But it's something.

Other promos can be worthwhile depending. The loss rebates have some value, but unusual strategy is required. You probably need to bet big, not necessarily on vp. And once you qualify, you're stuck having to stop playing until the promo period is over.

The $30 passport promo looks good if I'm reading correctly. It's not much money, but the wager requirement is low.

And the sports promos are probably worth a look, although there's a learning curve if you've never bet sports. I'm still working on that.

I've never done sports. That's way outside my experience but I hear the bets can really pay off.

I did do the passport promo and got the $30 so thanks for the reminder. Seems I'm forgetting some things.

I read a lot of stories here, and some on the Bob Dancer blog, of casinos giving out basically free room and board or drinks while you play. That was my friends experience when he was in Vegas a few years ago. They kept bringing him beers while he sat at the slot machine.

There's something to be said for physical casinos and for a country like the US where you can go in any direction and eventually find a half decent place to play. Canada is mostly one long thin strip along the border and has maybe 10% the selection.

It's a bit inaccurate to refer to these perks as "free". If you don't play, you don't get them, and, if you play, you normally lose more than you win.

Yes, you're right of course. The posts I've seen are from people who are going to gamble regardless so they might as well get some perks along the way. A trip to Vegas for me would be all about playing so having some expenses covered would be a bonus.

If you're flexible on casino selection, you can find full-pay vp with slot club points pushing your expectation above 100%. Hotel/food comps are possibly somewhat tighter initially than in the future. Once they've seen your action, they'll try to draw you back for another visit.

As a visitor, sometimes you miss out on gaming promos because they don't align with your dates. If you book far ahead, you may not know which promos will run during your visit.

Vegas attracts some obnoxious people. We probably have better odds of mandating smoking than banning it.

Drinks are still free, almost always. Some of the casino bars have installed quota systems.

When staying and playing at a casino for the first time, you can always, before checking out, ask a host to evaluate your play. Based on that evaluation, they may reduce, or even, eliminate the cost of your room.

Hopefully your last. I hope I don't get caught in that depressing trap, but given my betting pattern it is more likely than not.

I came to the same realization that dime bets are just sad. I might as well be playing Hoyle Casino at that point.

I moved up to dollar bets and hit a long string of quads and full house so I'm doing ok now. I might move down to quarters but it's been a good roll for days now and I'm having fun, which is the point I think.

EDIT: and seconds after posting, hit quad aces with a kicker on Jacks. That stings.

I started a thread for that, in case you happen to have screen-shotted it.
