Sweet C's Birthday Trip/Righteous Bros. Concert

Post by Lucky Larry »

I feel like a new poster since it's been so long since I posted. Life gets in the way. Sweet C and I went to Golden Nugget Lake Charles Thursday and Friday, Sept 28-29 for her birthday since I'm scheduled for back surgery on her birthday plus we wanted to add to our Music Bucket list the Righteous Brothers. 60's Oldies group for you younger ones. ("Unchained Melody" and "You've Lost that Loving Feeling") Also sang "I've Had the Time of My LIfe" in Dirty Dancing

Our past 6-8 trips have been "no bueno" with a few hits. I've even had to play extra $ along with my free play (slots only for free play) to try to get my annual tier points. Thursday night was a fairly good start and it got a lot better when this beauty hit.

Friday was the concert. Bill Medley still has it 70-80% at 83! Bucky the replacement for Bobby Hatfield did a wonderful job. After the concert I was basically trying to add point ($10VP/1 tier point). I was pleasantly surprised to catch this 25¢ Royal holding an A+J. Finally, around 1:00 am I finally hit 4 deuces.

Since I haven't posted lately here are two additional posts.
Carrie made Billionaire at GN and received this comp.

Otto,
Congratulations to your Arizona D'Backs on making the playoffs. So happy for Brett Strom our old Astros pitching coach now with D'Backs. No one is a better, nicer gentleman and an awesome pitching coach.

LL, wish Sweet C a belated Happy Birthday. Glad you seem to be back on track VP wise. Hope things continue to go well VPwise. Congrats to Carrie as well. The Dbacks are my second NL team so thanks for the Congrats. Wishing your Astros good tidings as well. Best wishes on your surgery. Hoping for a complete and speedy recovery. As a side note, years ago my late wife and I saw Bill Medley perform at Harrah' Ak-Chin. He was on the stage on the gaming floor. We were playing VP as he performed. It was a solo act though he had his daughter join him on stage to sing as well.

Ditto. Happy Birthday to Sweet C and congrats to you and the family on those hits. Best of luck with the surgery too. As a matter of fact, if you don’t mind, some prayers are on the way!

Olds,
Have been thinking about you guys. Hope you endured your recent hurricane with out any major damage or flooding. Brother-in-law and SIL went up the week after on the New England coast cruise from NY to Halifax. Sweet C and I reviewed our '07 trip up to NH and Bangor and Bar Harbor/Acadia NP trip in October and our '13 trip to Boston/Cape Cod and Mystic. Loved the two casinos (Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods) and and hope to get back up that way someday. Would love to meet up with ya'll. Tell your loving wife, schools sure have changed since the return from Covid. The burnout is so high amongst the educators I work with.

We believe it. Ct is very short staffed now. The Mrs gets contacted all of the time almost begging her to come back from towns even more than 50 miles away. The kids because of Covid are more challenged and not being on grade level is a major issue never mind the extra demands on staff as well. It would be great if some day you guys could take another trip up this way. Well our Ct Sun gals did great, but got beat in the final game for the WNBA Championship by the New York Liberty. A very tough team. We were able to go to a few of the games toward the end of the season. Boy, do those girls work and play hard. They’re tough and very very good players. P.S, we lucked out this timewith the storm, but Canada near the coast got hit pretty hard. Here’s a pic a few years old of an angry surf day. It’s just down the street. Sometimes the sound is as calm as a still pond in the middle of summer.
