You would have really cringed over one I had a few years ago. I was playing 25c 10 line JOB at Harrahs Tahoe and was dealt, you guessed it, four aces with one of the kicker cards!

These are very nice hits ted well done! you would have probably cringed a lot watching me in years past. I used to choose play Bonus Poker quite a bit myself when I was a regular player mainly because of what you touched upon, I did not have the sufficent bankroll to tolerate the huge downswings that usually come in triple duble bonus poker. Unless I was willing to drop down from 1 dollar credits to 25 cents or 5-10 cent credits, I opted for the stable 99.1% offered by 8/5 BP to extend my playing sessions and theoretically, show more coin-in.Tedlark wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 4:27 amThanks OTA and olds.
I have said before that sufficient bankroll is key. Unless a player catches lightning in a bottle early in a session, you'll sink fast playing TDB. But, when it hits, it's a good feeling. While I was playing Dream Card, a guy was playing Super Times Pay 3 play and was dealt trip aces. He drew the 4th ace and a 3. He was playing Bonus Poker. I cringed. I did congratulate him just the same though.
As a question not just to ted but to everyone here, what exactly do you players consider a sufficient large enough bankroll to be able to survive the gameswings in these games that ted plays? I used to choose 1$ credits, 3-5-10 line 99.1% 8/5 BP or sometimes even 9/6 Bonus Poker deluxe which is 99.5% I believe. My bankroll for a 3 day weekend visit would usually be 3000-4000 USD. If found myself losing really bad early because of cold machines I would drop to 50 cents. I typically avoided gimmicky games until or unless I had a big royal or dealt 4oak early in playing.

Thanks karl.
As for my opinion on bankroll, it's like ammunition. You want to have enough. Depending on what I set out to do on a casino outing I set my bankroll on that. Meaning, if I stop in for a quick visit like I recently did at Bally's Casino in Chicago just to check it out, I had a grand. For longer visits I plan bankroll accordingly. I usually have access to a reserve but I don't like to call on that unless in times of war.
Good luck to you.

I normally play much lower variance games (JOB, bonus poker, or deuces wild bonus), 5 line 50c, 10 line 25c, or 50 line 5c. For a two to three hour session, I normally bankroll myself with $1600. To play 10 line $1 triple double bonus (which I never intend to do), I think I would want at least $4000.

Normally I am a .25 denom player who will venture into .50 territory. I have played at the $1 level before and this outing I decided to start at $1 and see what happened. I was nearing my loss threshold and was getting ready to drop down in denom and I'm glad I held out. After things started rolling, I decided to keep denom right where it was, except when I went to .25 denom Dream Card. At .25 denom, 10 play Dream Card is $25.00 a pop so a player would need to be really careful there.onemoretry wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 1:32 pmI normally play much lower variance games (JOB, bonus poker, or deuces wild bonus), 5 line 50c, 10 line 25c, or 50 line 5c. Yeah, and I’ve strayed from it. Fight above your weight and you will get pummeled.
