One suggestion I'll make about carrying money.  Guys, don't carry it in a wallet in your hip pocket!  I don't even own a wallet any more.  With all the trips to Vegas we've made, I've started carrying a moneyclip that has a place on one side to carry around 6 or 7 credit cards and on the other side, a clip for folded bills. When I go through airport security, I remove the money and my driver's license, stick the folded money in my front pocket and stash the metal money clip in my carry-on to run through the x-ray machine.  The money doesn't set off the metal detector and I've never been questioned about it.The money clip, with money, I carry in my front jeans pocket when walking around Vegas. If I need to pull money from it to use at a table or machine, I'll head for the stall in the restroom and separate what I need from the large bankroll if necessary so that when I pull it out, it doesn't FLASH a couple of thousand at whomever might be watching.  I'm pretty careful not to pull that money clip out anywhere in public but if I do have to do so, I make sure there is something like a $ or $5 bill on the OUTSIDE.

Packing some heat may cause a few inspections and and inconviencences but it is better than being robbed and worked over in a alley like cddenvers pal.
Once that barrel is aimed at their head they apoligize very fast and beg for mercy. You have to protect yourself cause no one else will.

I'm with Mike.  No billfold, just a card carrier with DL and 2 credit cards in back pocket.  Front left all 1,5,10,20's that I use actively. Front right 100's.  If I am ever confronted by a thief I ain't challenging, I will empty my left pocket for him and hope that sends him away.  I think handpays are very poor policy. Casino probably thinks you will spend it but I'm not sure one wouldn't spend more freely without worrying about getting the heck away from there with the dough.

My understanding is , that in fact, some casinos will let you wire money back into your acount rather than carrying it around, or put it into a cashiers check. Haven't checked on the validity of this but I've heard that rumor.

I would think that those people that hit 20 + thousand would have to be given the option of a check or something...it would just be too dangerous!

We use to fly yearly junkets to Elko, NV and one year I hit a dollar royal right out of the shoot and then hit another slot progressive and was up over $9000.  Well to make a long story short, we would take walks every day for a break and not wanting to take that kind of cash with us, I had my dad hold it but on the final day I just tucked it in my dirty clothes in the room (the casino told me there weren't any safes available).  All my money was in packets of $1000 so that I knew exactly what I was spending or winning.    When I got home I realized that maid or someone in the room had removed a couple hundred off of each roll of a $1000.  Very smart on their part because I didn't even miss it until I went to deposit it in the bank and I was missing about $1200.   Calls back to the casino were not successful and while it was a really fun trip that sure put a damper on my memories.   Moral of the story, no dirty clothes, no library book and no mattress!!!!!

Thanks, I'll check on that during my next Vegas trip, whenever that is.  After I posted, I had the thought that casinos might not want to offer services that help players send money AWAY from the casino.

There's something else I do before a Vegas trip if I'm going to be there for a while and plan on bringing a fair amount of scratch.  That's to go to my local AmEx office and convert it to traveler's checks.  The casinos have no problem with them (no, indeedy), and if I have some left at the end of a trip I just deposit them the next time I'm at my bank.

In AC wire transfers in both directions can be done. You can wire the going in money to the Casino, and wire back all those millions when you leave. Another option on a large win is to have it deposited at the cashier's cage. A side benefit of wiring money in , is slightly better comps because they know what you are bring them.

To play you simply go to the Cashier's cage and take out what you want for a session. And, yes you get a receipt for each transaction.

There are no fees or charges for this service.

oej719 re packing heat: Assuming you are serious, airport officials frown on this type of thing.

I think that oej was just funning.  Right, oej?  Right?

Oej, Eduardo, and I met at one of the local casinos last month and it didn't look like oej was packing.  Maybe Eduardo noticed something that I didn't.

The casinos don't like to do it, but if you ask (demand) they will write you a check. Of course that means you won't have all that ready cash to give back to them. That's why they don't want to do it.

If you did not notice, then I was not packing.
I have a hunch that Eduardo had some heat though.
As long as someone in your group has some heat you have no worries.
