Mrs. Minn. and I took a profitable trip about 90 minutes north of the Twin Cities the first of this month. Shadowman is right, you can hardly swing a cat without hitting a full-pay OEJ machine, and there's plenty more VP action, though none returning more than the compact-specified 98 percent (except for some progressives including the newish IGA DDB with progressives on all quads as well as the RF, available at a "triple nickel" denom for 75 cents a spin).
We stayed, not in the hotel which was awfully smoky on our last trip several years ago, but across the parking lot at the inn. Our whirlpool suite with its own access to the pool/sauna area would do credit to any property on the Vegas Strip, and at the weekday rate I was able to pay for it (though not for Mrs. Minn.'s treatments at the newly-opened spa; she was very satisfied with the service) after six or so hours at the low-limit Hold 'Em tables. A shuttle ran us to and from the casino/hotel, which has a good variety of shopping and eating options. We grabbed a quick bite in the Silver Sevens Lounge, where a tight combo out of New York City (!) called Area Code was playing Sun. nite.

A week or so later Mrs. Minn. got a pretty generous comeback offer via snail mail, $5 coin and deep discounts on a buffet and weekday room. All in all, well worth a trip if you're in the area.

Maybe we'll run across each other when I return in about a month. My wife is looking forward to trying out the new Spa and I will get in some golf, hopefully the course will be in better shape this year after some bad winter kill last year.
I love the Hot Ham sandwich at the Silver Seven and the Quesadillas at the Grand Grill (the appetizer is enough food for two). I'm also a big fan of the French Toast for breakfast (enough for two as well). All of them comped, of course.
