Strip hotel rooms?

Post by Eduardo »

I'm curious where people have stayed on the strip or near it... if you've stayed at a bunch of places, which did you like the most?

Someone said staying at the Palazzo was nice. I've been to the casino and lobby etc and it was nice but never saw a room.

Only place I have stayed so far is at the Hilton. It was good... like a Hilton.   But I don't have anything to compare it to.

If you share, it would probably be good to know what level of room it was. I'm not looking for a presidential suite here!

Good post Eduardo.. My wife & I are going to Vegas in October..currently booked @ Planet Hollywood, but the reviews are not to positive..So now we are looking @ Paris. This being our 1st time out there..any good/bad reviews are appreciated. I know everybody has different tastes. We want to stay centrally located on the strip...

We've stayed at only two hotels on the Strip...MGM and Bally's.  I didn't have any complaints about the accommodations at Bally's.  The rooms we were in were nothing to get all excited about.  I remember them being large enough and clean enough though. We are not overly concerned about luxury when we go to Vegas.  We go there to spend our time in the casinos and as long as there is hot water and the rooms are relatively clean, we are content.  We have for the past 5 years or so, only stayed Downtown.  With a few exceptions, the rooms downtown are not in the same class as those on the Strip, but then, we spend very little time in the rooms. To each his own and where one stays is certainly a personal preference.  Many do not feel "comfortable" when they stay on Fremont St (Downtown).  It certainly isn't the place for everyone!

Paris has been perfection for us on our last three trips to Vegas and previous trips as well! You will have no complaints! Great location on the strip for access to many other casinos and shows, beautiful rooms and service and sensational buffet. (diamond lounge snacks and beverages can be loosely called dinner 4-6:00) Ask for a view of the strip (as in Las Vegas Blvd!) and see what happens! The better to watch the Bellagio fountain and night lights in all directions! I do not think that should cost any more than other rooms.  If not already being comped, ask for rates first and after quote, then ask for casino rates when calling any casino for rooms. (We can truthfully say the same about staying at Venetian, Harrah's, Ballys, Luxor, N Y, Flamingo, Bellagio and Mirage.) Because of mailed free room offers, we usually stay at two or more casinos on a single trip and find this interesting. It makes perfect sense to us and our bank roll. Okay, Venetian was a standout because of the luxury of TWO plazma T V sets on the wall, one in the bedroom section and the other in the living room section that were parallel and open to each other. I believe all their rooms are designed as suites. My remote control had to fight with his remote! Yet another remote controlled the drapes! Oh, now I've ruined your surprise! I keep very weird hours when in Vegas and ask for a room near the elevator. We had told a son we were staying at Paris and Venetian and he told the neighbors we were in Europe. Our fault!

We were told October is a high convention time..My wife has been doing all the leg work for our 1st trip....Everything she has read about Paris is all positive...I have to read up & get some info on Comps..We don't plan on spending alot of time in the room, but we both want a nice clean room & friendly service!!!. We are not high roller's by any means so I don't know about the comp thing(we will have to investigate..)..When we take our local trips in Michigan..we love Soaring Eagle..(very nice room's & exceptional service...). Thanks for your input Marie..

Our preference on the strip has always been the MGM. They have always comped our room and the property has plenty of choices for food and entertainment and a large casino. You won't find any great paytables but the rooms are nice and clean and the beds are comfy. Service is always great and we are very comfortable there. On one trip we got a comp at the Wynn and decided to check it out; all I can say is WOW! Amazing, large rooms with incredible bathrooms and super comfortable beds. As you would expect food is pricey but they did comp us the buffet and in our opinion it is the best in Vegas. An amazing and extensive selection of freshly prepared dishes and desserts that boggles the mind, well worth a try even if you do not stay there. We have also stayed at the Venetian and again, amazing rooms, comfy beds and great selections for food and drink, again pricey but also a real treat. Both the Wynn and Venetian will set you back a few hundred bucks a night if you haven't played there. We earned the Wynn comp by playing for about eight hours over two days, we are not big players budgeting about $300 per person for each four hour casino session.I play VP, the wife likes VP and slots.Good luck.

Eduardo, I've stayed at The Orleans, Harrah's, Bally's, MGM, Excalibur and the old Sahara.  The Orleans has great selection for video poker but I did not return there because when I called 13 months after our first stay they said they would only comp rooms based on the previous 12 months play.  Alright, no problem and they are way off the strip.

I guess I like the Harrah's properties because they have casino's in most areas that we travel and I can't complain about the ammenities that they will comp once you've been at one of their properties.  Show tickets, limo service at the airport, special events, you name it.  They don't have the highest pay tables on vp...you would probably want to stay at the Palms for a strip area casino that has a better payback but I have to admit that I'm a Harrah's ho!

I have stayed at the Flamingo,Harrahs,Venetian,Hooters back prior to it being a Hooters ,Casino Royale,Planet Hollywood back whan it was Aladdin,Hilton and Main street Station .
Of all those the Venetian was the nicest but it is terribly expensive I stayed courtesy of a comped convention .The next best room I stayed at strictly  room wise was the Hilton as they had nice sized rooms and the most comfortable beds I have found there  and we had a standard room .
