Broken machine story.....

Post by rayj »

My sister told me of a windfall she had while at the Horseshow in Tunica a while back. There were 3 Chase the Royal quarter machines. She decided to give one a try.Well, after a couple hours playing, she checked her comp point balance andthought the total points was strange in that it showed more then she thought she should have. She played awhile longer and found a huge amount of points. Well, she went to the cashier and cashed her player points for around $2,000.  She went back to the machine and continued playing...cashing player points again for nearly 5K!!! To make a long story short, she did this a few more times for a total of around $19,000!!! Then she started to freak out and left. She stayed away from the place for about 3 months. When she finally went back, she asked one of the slot attendants where the Chase the Royal machines where? He replied that they took them out because someone took them for $19,000!! She says oh..... and moved on.....Unbelievable......

And your sister is proud of this? I doubt you'll find many people here offering their congratulations and I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually track down where the money went to.

Sounds like the casino is the one that goofed. All she did was redeem points for cash and split.

That casino should know exactly where their money went. Interesting story on front page of today's Detroit Free Press re area casino employees cheating. Log on    freep    and then at top "search detroit" enter        Employees learn casinos hard to cheat       and click on the search logo magnifying glass on the right. 7-13-2008.  You can e mail this to yourself and read it later if time is an issue. Usually one can pull up a freep story for one week and then it's more difficult to find or they charge. Every casino no doubt has similar stories to tell; this focus is on Detroit casinos. Gals working in casinos here have to carry clear plastic or glass purses so contents can be easily seen at all times. Neighbor's daughter is a dealer at one of Detroit's casinos, loves her job and makes more there than she would working at a bank. It is pretty much standard that casino employees are NOT allowed to gamble in the casino where they work, at least in Windsor and Detroit. I would guess this is a universal regulation."1500 surveillance cameras watch and record activities at Detroit's three casinos 24-7. On top of the casino's own surveillance, casino staff and security is monitored by State Police which has separate surveillance rooms at each casino."

Malfunctions void all plays. They will identify who has their money and take appropiate action. Casinos do not like to be cheated. If in fact, if they know someone got an extra 19k, the cameras would have a prety picture of who got it.

It usually comes down to the exact situation. In the case the player KNEW they were getting something they did not earn. It's no different than an ATM paying out $2000 instead of $200 and the person keeping it for themselves. It's called theft and the person could be prosecuted.

royal flush - the intent to cheat was there AFTER she did it the first time. When this woman realized after the first time that there was a mistake being made by the machine each time thereafter was another individual case of fraud and theft. I imagine drug users do not intend to get hooked when they take that first sniff, shot or toke either. Whats wrong is wrong.

You certainly think you are one holy dude.....Like you would find out the malfunction and move to another machine or report it to the management like a good boy? Which one? You'd be better off keeping your trap shut.

I would like to applaud tedlark for taking a stand and expressing his opinion. However, I just stepped in something with SM and WM and cannot take on another fight at this point in time!
