Harrah's/Tunica

Post by pokeherguy »

I've played vp there for many years and have always wondered why they had several vp machines with problems. The problems varied some had max play buttons that did not work and a couple of others had bad screen graphics, one that I knew of had a sticky hold card button for the forth card. Playing there for many years gave me the advantage on knowing these machines well and avoiding them. The fact that I play $2 denomination limits my choices though because they only have about 20 to choose from at that level. I hadn't been there in a while and was shocked to see even more of the machines with problems. My guess is at least half the machines there I could play $2 denom vp at had a problem. I ended up quitting when I was dealt 3 kings and one didn't hold on the draw because the button stuck. There were a couple of machines the graphics were so bad on I couldn't tell the difference between suits. Why would the machines be in such poor shape? I can't believe they don't shut them down until the repairs are made since they aren't operating right. I bet if I found a machine in there that was giving me 10 credits for every pair I got it would be fixed quickly or shut down. It also got me to wondering how much had been lost by players because of non-working and sticky buttons.

It is stupity on their part. Poor management and lack of concern for customers.

Pokherguy, at your level of play I would have a talk with management about it, big time.

I played at Fitzgerald's, Sam's Town and several other casinos in Tunica several years ago and I encountered the same problems. I did speak to someone about it and I was told it was difficult to find and motivate good techs in that particular area. I do not know if this is true or not, but what I do know is that the Fitzgeralds and Sam's Town at Tunica would not last a week in LV, Laughlin or Biloxi. Not just the machines -- the overall sullen, could-care-less attitudes.

Vote with your feet. And don't just leave -- tell someone with a little bit of authority why you are leaving. I once left a casino because of an obnoxious person that I could not get away from and to my surprise the casino mailed me a very nice "peace offering."

I did ask a floor attendent there a long time ago about two of the machines which sit side by side and both had the same minor problem which was the max play button didn't work. I was told they thought it was because they were probably waiting on parts. While a broke max play button is no big deal its a little different when it comes to bad graphics and stickey buttons both can be costly to players. My guess was that these machines were pretty old and it might possibly be tough to get parts. Whatever the problem may be they need to get some newer vp machines. I'm going to try playing at the Sheraton the next time I go maybe it will be better there. I did play at the Fitzgeralds but I wasn't able to find $2 denomination and they also still had token vp machines.

Pokeherguy,I play at an Indian Casino up in Horton, Ks that has a bank of VP machines like that.  One of them has a screen that looks like a "negative" of a photograph.  Almost all of them have buttons that stick and two of them have fuzzy graphics (there are only 4 in the bank!).  These are OLD coin droppers and the casino will not fix them.  They won't admit it, but they are just waiting for them to break down completely so they can replace them with new Gamekings.  These machines are the only nickel machines in the house that give 9/6 payback on DDB and 9/7 DB.  There are other "new" machines with 8/5 DDB and 9/6 DB.Oh, did I mention that these are the ones that have Nickel Keno on them?  Way back in the back corner of the casino next to the restrooms.  Can't imagine why they don't rip them out and put in sucker machines instead but I'm glad they don't.I can't imagine that they couldn't get parts to fix them.  Gameking is Gameking and I'm sure they have an inventory of parts!

scorpio2 That would be hysterically funny if only it were not so close to reality! You echo my sentiments precisely for every casino, and there have been many, that I have ever visited!

Mike, thats where the homesteaders play 1 credit Keno. The casino is savvy to the situation. Think location? If the machines odor doesn't get you, the other will!
