Play VPFW in Mac OS X with VirtualBox

Post by JoeEkaitis »

If you're using Boot Camp to start up Windows XP or Windows Vista on your Intel-chip Mac, there's a FREE and easy way to run Windows AND OS X at the same time.  It's called VirtualBox and its main advantage over Parallels, VWare and other virtual machine programs is the price:$00.00.  Nada.  Zilch.  A dozen goose eggs.  El Zippo.Oh, and it's from Sun, the Java folks, so you know it's professional grade, even if it's FREE.  Best of all, the virtual Windows PC will have the same hardware ID, so you won't have trouble activating Windows or obtaining a new unlock code for Video Poker For Winners.  Since you can't use Boot Camp and VirtualBox at the same time, you're not violating any software licenses on programs you install with Boot Camp and on your VirtualBox virtual PC.  You understand, of course, that you'll also need a legit copy of Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista.  VirtualBox doesn't include any operating systems. The only hitch so far is that it doesn't support DirectX yet nor does it provide 3D acceleration for OpenGL, so Spin Poker is a little laggy.  Aside from that, all the other VPFW training games run at nearly the same speed as in Windows. Can't hurt to check it out!   :)http://www.virtualbox.org
