colorado springs

Post by ansoda »

I have a business trip coming up to Colorado Springs.
Are there any casinos nearby ( within an hour drive) that have decent VP play? By decent I mean reasonable paytables and denoms. Thanks!

Your only option with a short drive from Colorado Springs (45 minutes) is the casinos in Cripple Creek.  I've never played there so I can't give you any info about what's available in games or paytables.  If you're a higher denomination player you won't like it, as we're small stakes - $5 limit per bet.  Casinos are open daily from 8AM-2AM.  Here's a link to a site with more info:

If your trip was to the Denver area I'd be happy to meet and take you up to any of the places in Black Hawk/Central City.

Hey CD, do I recall someone saying that the Cripple Creek Casino is closing down?  Or was that just another bad-drug dream I had?

Someone else asked me about Missouri removing the $500 2-hour loss limit.  That is fact.  Missouri will now let people happily go broke just like Vegas.  I was talking to a couple of guys from KC while out here in Vegas and they were very negative about the change in law.  These guys are ones I would place little confidence in though.  They quite conclusively declared that the Casinos had gone completely "greedy" and there was no integrity left in the game in KC<??>  They may be correct in that latter statement, but it's not because of removing the limits.  They (the Casinos)have raped the Video Poker up there.  Time will tell, but I personally think that the opening of the casinos by the State of Kansas will add competition to the KC, Mo casinos and maybe bring some good games back!

(Oh, btw, these same two guys denied that the Eagles were playing at the Sprint Center in KC Sunday night 11/9.  Obnoxious guys to say the least.  Sort of the same situation some of you may recall me relating about the guy who was stupid enough to bet money against me at a Blackjack table (about hitting a soft 18 against a Face card <LOL>.

Sorry Webman....move this is you wish.  I'm on dialup and realized that I'd typed this in here in the Colorado topic when it probably should have been a new topic about KC casinos.

Thanks for the link CD.
Looks like cripple creek has many casinos within a short drive of Colorado Springs. two of them (Imperial & Wildwood) boast the lastest in Vp machines. I don't mind the bet limits as I'm not a high roller, nor do I mind small casinos. If I were staying closer to Denver I would take you up on your offer of a guided tour. My local travel time will be very limited so a drive to Denver is out.
Most of the casinos on the link sound like they are loaded with local flavor. I like that. My business trip has become more interesting Thanks again!

Cripple Creek is a town with about 20 casinos.  Since I only play in BH/CC (much shorter drive) I don't follow what goes on down there.  If any casino closed recently in Cripple Creek there are still quite a few left.

If what happened here is any indication, competition between casinos in KS/MO will lead to better comps (rooms, meals, points, etc.) but not to games with better pays.

And as to your whining about dialup (Harumphh!  Harumphh!) try it 24/7!

Hey CD, I'm a little faster than dial-up now, been there done that. It was I that asked/reported about a casino closing in Cripple Creek. It was called the Wild Horse casino. They blamed the smoking ban and the poor economy. It was I too that asked about the loss limit being lifted in Mo. casinos. Read today that Mo. casinos are doing better business thanks to Illinois casinos smoking ban and losses up to 30% for those same Ill casinos.

Check out the last sentence of MikeA's post earlier in this thread, where he knocks us...he claims it might be a drug-induced post, but I think it's probably an incipient brain tumor.   Are the lights getting dim there, MikeA? ()

Not so's you could tell:

Southpoint exacted it's revenge on me today with the 100.017% DDB machines.

Oh, I didn't realize Cripple Creek had that many casinos.  I remember only one when I was there, but that was way back yonder in time!

And dial-up...I remember it after using it when 300 baud was the best thing since sliced bread.  I went through all the speeds (1200 2400 and 56kbs) starting back in the early 80's.  I never thought I'd have to go back to dialup....but Vegas taught me differently!  You can't even get broadband in most hotels out here.  Vegas Club and Plaza now have wireless in the rooms for $10.00 a day but I don't have a wireless card.  Not worth it to go buy one for the occasional trip to Vegas.

But I feel for you guys who are dialup!  That is a sincere statement!
