I have seen the strip in a flat out raging flash flood. Wife almost got swept away albeit for her driving skills and a little luck.

The only flash flood I've witnessed around there involved beads.

I hear you, faygo! I got caught in a torrential downpour running across the strip from Mirage to Harrah's one time. The back drive behind Harrah's was a roaring, scary river and the cab driver was more than a tad nervous about driving through it! It's hard to believe because it's usually so dry there that I carry a water bottle everywhere!

ha ha,i save me dimes for tips!i did see a vp player writing down all wins/losses every time he played, that would be hard.easier i think just to ask casino for a year ending win/loss statement.i'll try to win less then $250,000 next year, now that obamas in.

While these statements are often looked at by the IRS in an audit situation, they are not considered evidence. If you hit a big win and try to use these to show losses you will be very unhappy. The law requires a diary of each and every visit.

Yes, I'm one of those guys writing down each and every session result.

There has, just got, to be a story in that sentence.

I have seen the strip in a flat out raging flash flood. Wife almost got swept away albeit for her driving skills and a little luck. Was caught twice in rain shafts in Vegas. Checking out the (then) new TI and a violent rain/wind hit. Couldn't see the roadway with so much water. Another time, old Showboat. Boulder Hwy became a river and water entered into the casino because it was so high. Casino balcked out and everyone got comped food/rooms for losing out from the machines or tables. Small tornado followed afterwards but didn't cause any damage. Now, what was that about beads?

I keep my own session records as well.  This issue comes up now and again, and there are a couple of points that are worth repeating.  First, the year-end statements from casinos can be wildly inaccurate - sometimes I think they use a RNG.    Over the years I've gotten some that have been off as much as $15K, and I'm mainly a quarters player!

Second, the casinos here put a disclaimer at the bottom of their statements saying that they are not to be used in an audit situation.  I keep my own numbers in a spreadsheet, all neat and tidy.

Third, keep all copies of those W-2Gs, and keep them together.  If you have a lot of them and they're not all in one place, it's possible to overlook some at tax time.

I've never been through an IRS audit, but I get audited by the state of Colorado almost every year because of my W-2Gs.  I e-file, and don't understand why the state doesn't seem to get the same info as the feds.  So I end up having to send some or all of the actual W-2Gs to the state anyway.  Go figger - it's enough to make me want to move to a state with no state income tax.

Sorry CD but the W2-G's would still follow you like a lost puppy. Taxable or not.
