Come on, people, if you want a smoke-free, quiet place...go to the library!  Lots of folks live in the smoke banned state of California and just LOVE  to go to a good casino so they can play and also smoke inside.  (Which they would never do in their own homes).  Make your choice, but quit whining.  Casinos offer those sanitized, quiet little "loser" rooms if that's what you want.  Or..you could still play on-line in the comfort of your own home in your fuzzy slippers with no one to bug you.One of the many reasons I prefer VP over table games, is that I can opt out from interface with other players, those who want to "boss" the table or complain about the airconditioning or other people's choices. Please keep VP real.  Stop whining. For me, all I want is a great casino with lots and lots of choices for all kinds of VP with lots more jackpots, lots of noise, lots of action and lots of people having fun.

There are arguments on both sides of the smoking in a casino issue.  My only gripe with the nonsense going on in AC is that the state did not have the stones to insist that the casinos be included in the state-wide ban that is almost a year old, and instead of letting the marketplace decide, the two city councilmen decided to play hero.  Obviously, they didn't have any idea who they were dealing with.  This state is losing good-paying jobs, and the casinos employ thousands of people on and off the casino floor.  The casinos wanted no part of any restrictions on smoking, because even with the 25% compromise they know they will lose business.  I spent an enjoyable day yesterday at the Meadowlands racetrack, and the bartender I spoke with(a smoker)said the business is way down from last year, and long-time employees are being laid off left and right.  This is gambling we are talking about-not grammar school.  I respect Rascal's feelings about the second-hand smoke issue, but sooner or later people are going to get tired of being told what they can or can't do in public.  Give people a choice, and see what happens.  If the smoking areas don't generate the business, get rid of them.  If they do, keep them.

I think the casinos should be able to say what percentage they want to be smoking-as long as its really seperate and self contained --because i think they are going to find the smoking section packed and the nonsmoking not that crowded with a 25/75 split. By the way I am a smoker who was going to go to CT if they totally banned smoking in AC.

I was in Atlantic City a few weeks ago and will never go back.  The smoking ban is ridiculous.  I like to smoke when I gamble and try to be very polite about it.  The AC smoking restrictions limited where I could play.  Again, I say, I'll never go back.

It's the way the world's going (I smoke myself).  Here in CO the casinos are just about the last public places where it's allowed - smoking in regular bars was done away with a while back, and I'm sure the ban will be extended to the casinos soon enough.  I try to be polite myself, taking end machines when possible and blowing off to the side.  But as the saying goes, that's like trying to maintain a "No Peeing" section in a swimming pool - limited effectiveness.  Didn't think I'd survive the ban on smoking in the office, but did.  Didn't think I'd survive the airport/plane ban, but did.  Didn't think I'd survive the bar ban, but did.

Maybe I'll move to Europe, where they're still civilized about such things.

The smoking controversy tends to go on and on. I will say one thing. IMO the handwriting is on the wall. It's only a matter of time before smoking is banned pretty much everywhere (and that includes LV).

Yeah - my last trip to Vegas was my first since the airport ban went in effect.  I was sad when I walked past that old "Smoking Lounge" and saw it shut down.  Whiled away many hours in there over the years, waiting for flights.  Like losing an old friend...
