Holiday Contest Results, 2008

Post by Webman »

Thanks to everyone who participated in our special prize-infused Holiday Edition contest here at VideoPoker.com, featuring Ultimate X Poker. It was a lot of fun to watch, and we hope you enjoyed it as well.

And congratulations to our many winners (All 117 of them!)Each will receive a prize. We saw some incredible high scores as usual, with a pretty good battle for the top all week long. Quite a few members also took on the challenge for the worst possible score. Don't make a habit out of that "strategy," folks! Then we had a whole lot of winners for our special bonus prize with any 12x Quad Aces hit in the entire contest. Throw in a few more bonus winners at 25th, 125, 1025 and 10025th and that makes for one BIG end to an exciting year of contests. For complete contest results and winners, Untitled Documentclick here!Winners
will be contacted by email and have 3 business days to respond and
claim their prize(s). Please specify appropriate clothing size for
apparel awards.
Happy New Year to everyone, and may you all have many Royal Flushes and Kickers in the year to come. We look forward to offering more contests in the near future. As always, we appreciate your feedback.

Are you sure the lowest people played a full session?  I find it hard to believe you can get a score of 0 through 200 hands.  I tried it twice myself throwing everything good away and ended in the 700 - 800's.

The trick(?) was to be sure to hold all losing hands. My lowest was 230. Just bad luck I guess.  Now, you take cd , he is use to losing.

Yes, those people played full 200 deal sessions. Was it hard? You bet! There were hundreds of attempts at the low score.I have been able to come close to that, but never a perfect zero. It takes some luck to get the "wrong" draw. Notice most of them were playing Deuces... smart, because you can hold a lot of things to avoid the lowest payout of 3 of a kind. All other games a simple pair (JOB) gets you points. As faygo mentioned, it's not just about throwing away winners... you actually need to hold things that you know will avoid payouts... going for "low score" seems to be an art form in itself. Someone get Bob Dancer on the phone to draw up some strategy cards!

Thousands of hours of real casino play over the years, along with hundreds of hours of research on different games and play strategies are finally starting to pay real dividends.   I come before you today only 5 points away from true perfection.   Managed it a few times, in fact.    All of the gurus, math experts. and long term addvantage players said it couldn't be done but there it is in black and white, for all the world to see.

Faygo, you're so used to finishing above me in scores that you just don't have the right mindset to be successful at something like this - the will, determination, and iron discipline.

As you said, holding all cards in dealt non-winning hands is the first step on the road to success.  That's a "teaser" tip.  I'm not selling anything, but further tips will be available only through personal training for a small, um, pecuniary consideration.  A few six-packs are acceptable as well, or even just a couple of Tall Boys.    Bring a big bankroll; we'll have lots of plays to go over.

Congratulations to all the lucky winners, and thanks to all the people who work on the site for the great job on the contest and for the additional prizes.  I like the low-end concept and hope that this "Dishonorable Mention" recognition appears in furture contests even if there are no prizes awarded for it.

EDITED:  I just saw WM's post about the possibility of lowball strategy cards from Bob Dancer.  WM, tell him that if he beats me to the punch I'll sue his heinie off.

As cd mentioned may ways,  you also have to note that once you get more points than you had on you lowest hand you quit and start over till you can better (lower) your score,  you play many more hand that way, BUT  only the full 200 hands  count and toward then end you get very nervous.  Congratulations to all those top scores!  ( I wish I was one of them.

Cd did you do the reverse backward romp thru town, or a combo of pattern opposite detection with some cold cyles thrown in?
Way to go pal.
