We'll be vacationing in Vegas June 14-18th.  It's maybe a cliche but I understand the Paiutes are planning a casino and they're gonna build in the the toughest market?  They have an advantage that on tribal lands W-2G's are not presented to winners?

hm, had not heard about a casino. a dealer told me a few months ago the chinese were talking about building a casino over on spring mountain in chinatown. who knows...

down here in so cal, we have TONS of indian casinos. they ALWAYS present a w2g to any player who has a slot jackpot 1200 or over. I've received plenty of them so the tribes still do have to present them to players. would assume they would have to abide by the same rules.

incidently, they have their own website (go figure, eh?)

ps, i appreciate that you are coming up on a sunday. i usually go sat-monday. always like coming when the crowds are at a minimum. good call! what part of the good ole usa do you live in?

Haven't heard any news about a Paiute casino. Good luck if they decide to go ahead with it. Where they're located, not too much luck as it is kinda "shady" that a way. Vido, it's the same place because thats where my buddy and I went to get some stogies. decent prices, better than most casinos and smokeshops anyways but I've also had luck at Dotty's on Maryland and Flamingo. Way cheaper and some decent VP there too. Chinatown casino is ixnay. Funding went away when the mortgage market busted. Steve, so many good food choices await you. You know the drill. Have a safe and eventful trip (VP wise). If you look down the hill, you'll see Jerry's Nugget.

If you are out driving around take a quick drive through Red Rock Canyon in N. Vegas...Beautiful drive and you can stop at the spectacular RR resort for a meal....There is the new Spring Preserve  http://www.springspreserve.org/html/  Check it out and see it that might be something you would enjoy...

So even though the Paiutes are a sovereign nation they comply with U.S. tax code?  That my friends is how powerful the IRS really is.  Not to mention the tax fellas are now forcing the Swiss banks to divulge customer info.

yes, any slot jackpot over 1200 is reported to the irs, even at the indian casinos.

but, the paiutes cigarettes are tax free for the consumers so that is nice! (they are literally the cheapest carton prices you are going to find in all of neveda and anywhere in CA! plus they have a $2 off coupon on their website for almost every brand)

On Mother's Day, in addition to a card and flowers I give my mother a check for one of our bi-annual Vegas runs.   She then plans the logistics for our Vegas excursions.   She's West Texas' Jeane Scott and insists on frugal and prudent air transportation and accommodations.  Hence the Sun. thru Thurs.   This year we are also celebrating my daughter's 21st. birthday in addition to my anniversary.   That's a threefer.   All I have to do is come up with with a simple itinerary that will keep all parties entertained, wined , dined and transported while not putting  my credit cards into sudden death overtime.  Can it be done?      Thanks for the Paiute link.  I'm curious that they can choose to sell federal , state tax free tobacco but have no choice but comply with IRS regs?

sure, it can be done. there is plenty of stuff to do without going broke.

eat at coffee shops except for maybe one or two nice meals and take free shuttles the hotels offer instead of cabs, if possible.

just choose carefully.
another interesting site to check out is (www.cheapovegas.com)

ps, where are you staying? Orleans?

Downtown.   Due to being misinformed I completely misunderstood the tax situation for both the game player vis a vis  the Tribes.  I was under the impression that the primary advantage tribal casinos, like foreign countries and cruise ships outside American boundary waters,  did not administer U.S.  tax law. Hence no W2-Gs.  It is solely the gamers responsibility to report those earnings.  Which brings to mind a question I may be afraid to have answered definitively:  When taxes are factored into the pay table is there  positive expectation video poker?
