Las Vegas comps for locals?

Post by mightwin »

Just wondering what kinds of comps you are offered if you live in Las Vegas?

As I stroll though the casinos - I always see those people with an entire keyring of slot club cards.  As suggested, I too have cards from the places I play.  (Should have gotten those years ago...)  Offers come in the mail almost weekly for discounted room rates and free play.  I have been invited for a few slot tournaments also - which were very fun.  Making it even better is the free hotel rooms included in those invitations.

The offers for locals in my state (NM), include weekly freeplay, food specials, and sometimes a free hotel room.

Thanks for the info -

Well, if you live in Las Vegas, i would imagine you probably wouldn't be offered free rooms too often. If you are a slot player, a lot of the casinos sent bounceback offers redeemable for free slot play. I know there are a few regular members on this forum that live in Vegas that could share their insight.

If you live outside of Las Vegas but in So Cal or another close state like a lot of us do, we get constant free room offers with x amount of free slot play and food comps per day. I've even received a few free room offers with a shopping spree ($250 store gift card) recently. Get those about once or twice a year. Would depend on the amount of play you give and the hotel brand. I play and stay with Boyd Gaming almost exclusively and I get at least one or two free room offers in the mail monthly. I occasionally get them from other hotels I've never played at so that is a nice and welcomed bonus.

Ps, the indian casinos here in So Cal don't seem to send anything. A few years ago one periodically sent me $20 in free slot play but it would cost me double in gas money to get there and back.

Las Vegas is either 579 miles (over the Hoover Damn) or 619 miles (through Laughlin) away.  It's an easy drive from Albuquerque - I-40 all the way until Kingman, Arizona - they you pick which route.  If anyone's ever been stuck in traffic over the Hoover Damn, it's much better to go the extra miles instead of hearing yourself gripe for over an hour about the stop and go traffic.
I always thought comps were for those that spent tons of money, and didn't bother getting players club cards.  Years ago we stayed quite a bit at the Golden Nugget because it was easier for my Mom to get from the parking garage to the room.  She received a letter in the mail, they had enrolled her in a "private arangement" club.  Stay 4 nights, 5th night free and a line pass for restaurants.  We thought that was a great deal.

While waiting for a handpay at Bellagio, we were asked if we wanted to sign up for players club cards - I signed up.  The next month we got a discounted room rate offer in the mail.  Since then, I've signed up for cards in every casino.

I don't gamble a ton, but I've gotten some really good discounted rates.  I was really surprised over the slot tournament invitations.  I thought they were way to good to be true.  Turned out to be really fun - 3 sessions of 15-minute tourmament slot play with a presentation of the winners at the end, and the room was free for 3 nights.  All I had to do was get to Las Vegas - and feed myself.  (I suddenly had a lot more money to gamble with, without the room expense....)

I mostly play video poker.  All of my "big" wins are from VP.  Like others mention on the forum - I play slots for a "break".

New Mexico's all indian casinos, with a few state run racinos.  In the middle of Albuquerque is a horsetrack/casino.  On the outskirts of town there's 3 different casinos, all within 15 miles from the center of town.

Even with gambling here, I still love Las Vegas and would like to move there.
