I've lost over $10,000 in one night by not hitting quads forever on 9/6 DDB 5-play dollars. It's the way things roll at times. I've also got dealt 4 aces w/kicker for $10,000 too. So, respectfully, I don't want to hear whining about losing $2600 in one evening. Next time play quarters and you'll only lose $625 or play nickles and only lose $125 and you'll have less to complain about.
Bottom line, know the risk, hope for the reward, don't wager more money than you can afford to set on fire.

We always like hearing about trips, good or bad. If you do want some whining tips, though () check out the monthly contest thread after the next contest gets going.

That was 2600.00 through with no 4 of a kind, thats why I have lost confidence in VP! This is my third trip where I put 2500.00 through with no 4oak,now that hampers the old bankroll and is frustrating on full pay!
I apologize for my tone, but the last couple of statements from your thread post is what got me going off about whining. If you've lost confidence, stop playing. But, keep in mind, the math is the math...the machine will pay over time what the return schedule states with skilled play (search my post on the RNG experiment). I played over a million dollars through machines with Harrah's last year to prove a point that the expected return is accurate. Lower your wager rate and you'll have more fun and be less frustrated.

I'm a fast and frequent video poker. While I'm very aware that there are no magic machines or "ready to pay off machines", I try to move on somewhere else if a machine doesn't give me back something within 20-40 bucks.
I know people who will stay figuring "It's DUE to pay", and I've rarely seen that happen. For me it's more fun to move on.
I frequently go to the Spa Resort and Casino in Palm Springs. Last week I played several machines with nothing. Then I suddenly started getting those high pay four of a kind. I finally (reluctantly) left with an extra $500. A pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

I was in HOT Las Vegas last week for 5 nights.. (record 112 degrees)Stayed at the Mirage, Watched this 25cent progressive video poker bank of machines. During the week ,my husband and myself fed this bank quite often, with no luck ,no 4 OAK's to keep us playing, finally on the last night,at about 11 P.M. walking back from playing at the Bellagio, I said to him..I'm off to play these one last time. Machines were full with players, finally settled in on one, my husband, daughter and son in law joined me at about midnight, we were all playing when i threw away a bad hand and was dealt the Royal on the re-draw..woohooo.. won $1,741.00. What a way to end a trip.

Congrats on the great hit. I hit my first quarter progressive jackpot back in 2000 at the Sands in Reno. I've hit many progressives since then but never topped the $2300 total. Hopefully, you will have many, many more.

I've only hit a handful of progressive jackpots in my life(all on VP), but my most memorable one was at the Luxor in July 2004.
The bank was a 12 pack of quarter 8-5 JOB uprights and the royal progressive was up to about $2700.00 when I began playing.
After 2 1/2 full days of hammering away on the same machine(had to get there early) I was only down about $150.00 and had missed on five 1-card royal draws during that time.
About noontime on Wednesday, my 3rd day, I pulled the K of spades to hit the royal for my biggest jackpot ever..........$3196 and some change.
It was the first time I ever cleared out an entire bank without passing gas !

Several years ago in Indiana when what is now Ameristar was a Harrah's there was a bank of progressives on the 2nd floor at it was progressive for not only the royal but quad 2's,3's,4's and aces too. It was a quarter machine and about an hour into the session I hit the ace's progressive that was paid when dealt aces. It was a nice 6k payoff. About an hour later I then hit the progressive again as I was dealt 4's, that paid 2k. This was my best ever progressive hit.
