VP in Pennsylvania!!

Post by ATR728 »

Pennsylvania has now started to open their casinos.  Eventually there will be 13 of them spread throughout the state.  Has anyone played at them yet?  Someone told me that racinos don't use Random number generators....anyone know about this?

I know that in NY State the VLT's(slots/VP)are run by the state lottery, and every bet made on a machine is basically an electronic scratch-off ticket.  The paytables for VP are pretty much the same as in AC or Vegas, but the variety of games is limited.  As far as RNG's, I don't know if they are used in these slot parlors, but what I do know is these places are really going to hurt Atlantic City, especially with all of the nonsense going on regarding smoking.  The only benefit I can see for AC players is that maybe the table minimums might come down a little, because you don't have that option in PA.  I intend on checking out the racino at Chester soon(maybe Philly Park too)and I will find out what I can about them.  Quads and triple 7's to all of my friends in the Keystone State!

To add to the above post aboutn VLTs in Pa.  The VLTs in NY do have a built in RNG to kick in if the State wide Network takes a dump.  I know this for a fact by talking with a lot of people I know that work at the local Racino.  When the Network is down, the service light flashes constantly, however, the machine still functions as normal.  I have been told it is running in an Stand Alone Mode.  I have played VP during these times and have not noticed an appreciable difference in how the machine behaves.  Just an observation.
BTW most of the VP machines, except the Ballys machines, will not allow you to throw away an dealt winning hand;  they will return the same hand or a BETTER hand.  Once you are on to this and modify your playing mode to accomadate this nice little feature, you can increase your chances of winning greatly; throw away four of a kind on a DW dealt hand and you stand a good chance to get 5 of a kind.  I know there will be skeptics, but come up to NYS and try it.............you will like it!!!

Is there a way to figure out easily if the machines are VLTs or RNGs?  I was under the impression that RNGs were to the players benefit.....that does sound interesting though about throwing away a good hand and getting something better....that is for VLTs only?
