I'd say Charles Town casino in WV is the ultimate worst casino to play video poker. I've never seen deader machines anywhere. I play quarters, and on Double Double Bonus poker, you had to put in the maximum of 20 QUARTERS to win the 4000 coin royal jackpot. In AC, you put in 5 quarters and win 4000 coins. At Charles Town aka Rip-Off-City, if you put in 5 quarters and you get a royal, you will only win $350. That's IT!  I lost so much money so fast, I actually felt violated. They only had multi machines with a few poker games. I played about 2 hours and lost my whole stake for the whole weekend, which was substantial. The smoke was vile (there was no non-smoking area).  The only reason we were there in the first place was that we had a family party down there, and we stayed at the hotel on the premises.  The race track and the restaurants were nice, but if you value your money, STAY OUT OF CHARLES TOWN! Good luck everyone.

I'm not sure if 70 for 1 return for RF qualifies it as the worst place to play period but it is a horrible paytable. Max coin-in returns 500 for 1. What are the rest of the payouts on this game? 50 for 1 on SF,25 for 1 quads, 9 for 1 on FH etc.? Having no control whatsoever on the outcome of your game (VLT?) might put it in the "worst place to play" category.

yessir, you appear to be correct about them being VLT's.
i found a quote from another racino in the state of WV, so i'm assuming both have them.

"Mountaineer director of racing Rose Mary Williams said March 13 revenue from video lottery terminals, the primary driver of purses at the track, declined this winter because of "economic and weather conditions" that impacted business..."

That's exactly correct! With five quarters playing Double Double Bonus, you only get $375 in WV for a Royal Flush, and in AC you get $1000 for the same five coins.

Surprisingly, the other payouts are the same with five coins in WV as they are in AC. You get 250 coins for four of a kind of the high numbers, and 400 coins for the low numbers, and double that for the low kicker.

However, in WV, you actually get a higher payout on 4 Aces with a low kicker (2000 coins or $500) than you get if you win the big Royal Flush Jackpot with five coins ($375.00). How stupid is that?

I know I'm never going back there so I don't care, but even so, that's truly highway robbery!

The comment about VLT is important. It's means the game return is not based on the paytable. Usually the return of these type of machines is 90-92%  but could be worse.

Good call! I understand that you were there for the weekend so you still wanted to play. I have the same problem. The indian casino nearest me used to have tdb at the quarter level for 9/5. that was better than some in vegas. well, once the near year came, they completely got rid of the machines. They always used to pay out. now at quarter level, it's ddb at 7/5 and if you now want 9/5, you have to play dollar. It's not like i can just get in the car and head to vegas in the 75 minutes it takes me to get to the casino so I just deal with it when i'm there but it sucks! I mostly stick to blackjack. At least they have surrender!

I know this is an old post but I stumbled upon it by searching for "Charles Town" and had to reply. This is completely untrue as I have played at CT since it opened. At CT on the DblDblBonus poker a bet of 20 quarters wins you 16,000 quarters or 4000 DOLLARS not 4000 COINS.

I've been to FireKeepers in Battle Creek once, and will not go back.
Used to go up to Little River a lot, but the last time I went lost faster than I could think!!!   I put $20 in a machine at a time  -- never had more than $20 in any machine!!!  Was out of money in an hour!   In Michigan, I like Four Winds and Soaring Eagle the best.
