Now, now, oej.   Any style of play will win sometime, and it would be just our luck to question a specific claim made by that writer for results over a small amount of play and in that one case have him produce a living, breathing witness with a success story over that amount of play.  It has to happen sometime, right?

cd I think that is what is happening here. If i had to guess i would say someone after losing a whole bunch of money finally got some hits, then brags about them to try to get someone to challenge them to prove it. one does not rack up comps like he brags about without putting a lot of money into machines like he says he does not do. unless they just want him to play there because they know he is terrible at video poker.

I agree.  Maybe things work differently in places like Vegas, but here in the sticks playing on cash comps only isn't the way to fame or fortune.  You'll only get a small amount of play on them which reduces future comps (cash, meals, rooms).  Kind of a downward spiral.  The casinos here will start cutting all types of comps after just one month of reduced play.  I couldn't believe the story about getting over $1000 in free play just for signing up for a player's card.  Here, typically there isn't any kind of deal for new players.  A few places might give you one comped meal or $25 in free play.
 
Maybe I'd understand better if I could figure out how to hit Aces every 1K hands instead of the 5K or so hands that it actually takes me...

Last I remembered, BP had payouts for quad 2,3,4's and quad A's but there were no payouts for kickers unless they rigged the payouts to pay at the DDB paytable while playing BP. That would be a work of technical trickery rivalling that of the fellas in the oceans eleven movie.
