Phoenix area video poker

Post by pirate520 »

My wife and I are avid Bj players and live in the Phoenix area. We also enjoy the Tucson and Laughlin area casinos and spend most weekends and once during the week playing at one of them. We have recently discovered the fun of video poker and are trying to educate ourselves the best we can and this site is awesome. Can anyone give us any tips on the best machines in the phoenix area? Is there a way to find out what machines are located in casinos near us?

For the most part, the pay tables at the casinos in the Phoenix area are pretty average, 96-97% expected return. If you play higher denominations ($1 and up) you will find several 98-99% pay tables especially at Harrah's Ak-Chin and Fort McDowell. In fact, at The Fort there is a bank of full-pay, single-line $1 DDB machines that pays 10/6 for a return of 100.07% with perfect strategy.

Thank you for your reply. I live closest to Wild Horse Pass and Lone Butte but I will check out Fort McDowell and AK-CHIN this weekend.

The new casino in Chandler opens this weekend. I understand the selection of at or near positive return games however is weak.

Ed, I'll be checking it out within the next week or two (after it settles down abit). I'll post if there are any games worth while. Being that it has a prime location, my guess is that the returns will be low, similar to the Vegas strip.

Damule,I took a closer look at the Ft. McDowel DDB a while back, and to my surprise the max coin SF is only 200.  It's still playable in my opinion, but when I caught a SF and only got $200, I was shocked to say the least.CK

SF changing to 200 (assuming the rest of the schedule is 9/6 and not altered any where else) lowers the EV by .1094. Big enough change in my book to make it unplayable.

10/6 - 100.067

10/6 w/reduced SF - 99.9577

The 10 for the FH keeps this an attractive game for me, ck
A lot of people misplay the SF holds anyway.

faygo,The SF I mentioned was kinda hard to misplay.  It was dealt. :)On this particular game DDB, its the best paytable I've found around here.Other local casinos offer the same game for as little as 6/5, and it drives me crazy to watch people play them.  Especially when they hold a Jack of Hearts and catch a $4k Royal.  Happened to see that play a couple of weeks ago.Oh well,CK
