Saint Louis Area

Post by 7come11 »

Seems to be 2 takes here, people either like Harrah's or Ameristar with a small portion going to the President and Casino Queen (East St. Louis, IL) just across the Mississippi river.
Personally, for VP I've found Harrah's to be the best and they generally do have larger crowds than Ameristar. Ive never had much luck on VP at Ameristar but there are others who would disagree.

Both seem to have roughly the same ratio of machines.

I do a lot better at BJ at Harrah's with the stand-up tables...makes it easier to hit quick and run. With Craps, I've had equal luck at both.

I don't discount President either as I've had some nice wins there and there are cheaper tables minimums. A few good VP sessions.

Never won at anything on the Casino Queen!

Note: don't play slots, so no take on those.

May luck be on your side!

What kind of paytables do they have on VP at AmeriStar and Harrah'$?  Any full pay games?

I've played both AmeriStar and Harrah'$ in Kansas City, Missouri.  Neither one has a single full pay game...and AmeriStar in KC is the 9th largest casino in the world!  I'm told that the only full pay game in Kansas City these days is at Isle of Capri and that's the All American Poker at $.25.

According to the VPfree database both Harrahs and Ameristar near St Louis have 9/6 JOB and 8/5 BP at the .25 level and up. The President has .25 AA as well as some dollar progressives that should be positive quite often.

You're right shadowman, I've seen a 9/7 Triple Bonus machine at Harrahs. Many are 8/5 progressive on the DDB and rarely see a jackpot over $1200, so royals hit fairly often. I hit 3 last year and all were at Harrahs so I guess I am a bit partial to them. Most of what they have are multi-select.

They threw a group of 6/5 strip payoff machines over by the I-Bar part if you want to play and watch the entertainment!

President changes things around everytime I'm there, but that is maybe every 2 months.

I like Harrahs to play at. The video poker is good with full play on a few machines. You have to walk around for a time to find them but they were there the last time I stopped in and played for about six hours and left up a little over $100. I was playing a 9/6 JOB quarter machine. My wife set down to play a full play double double machine. She hit Aces with a kicker but only had two quarters in at the time. She got up and left with her up a little over $75. She was happy!

AS ONE WHO LIVES IN THE ST.LOUIS AREA AND PLAYS AT ALL THE LOCAL CHOICES WE HAVE YOU REALLY HAVE TO SEARCH FOR THE BEST PAYTABLES. HARRAHS HAS FULL PAY J-O-B AND DOUBLE BONUS IN 25 CENTS AND UP, BUT VERY LIMITED NUMBER OF MACHINES. AMERISTAR ALSO LIKE HARRAHS, VERY LIMITED. CASINO ALTON AND THE CASINO QUEEN NOT AS NICE TO PLAY AT (LOT'S OF SMOKE) BUT OVER-ALL A BETTER VALUE. THE PRESIDENT CASINO (PINNACLE) DOES NOT OFFER FULL PAY IN LOWER DENOMINATIONS. I HAVE GOTTEN ROYAL FLUSH'S AT HARRAHS, AMERISTAR, CASINO ALTON AND THE CASINO QUEEN OVER THE LAST 2 - 3  YEARS SO ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE ON ANY OF THE BOAT'S.
MY WIFE AND I VISIT ALL OF THE BOAT'S AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH SO INFO IS USUALLY UP TO DATE. JUST A NOTE TO SAY IF YOU LIVE IN THE MIDWEST GIVE THE NEW FRENCH LICK CASINO RESORT IN FRENCH LICK INDIANA A TRY AS THIS IS ONE OF THE NICEST SMALL BOAT'S YOU WILL EVER PLAY AT. THE HOTEL IS FIRST CLASS ALONG WITH THEIR FOOD OFFFERING'S. HITTING THE ROYAL 15 MINUTES AFTER GETTING THEIR JUST MIGHT SWAY MY OPINION.

I live in St. Louis part time and usually play Harrah's. Overall, I am luckier in Vegas than St. Louis. I wonder if others are as frustrated as I about the $500 limit. I would like to play dollars more often, but bump my head on the limit.
How do others get around that?
Thanks
