Dover Downs in DE

Post by sthec »

Has anyone played VP at this casino?  We're planning to take our first trip up (from VA) next weekend.  We usually go to Las Vegas 3 times/yr and have been looking for someplace close for weekends and to avoid the flying hassle these days.

We susually play qtr and 50cent and sometimes $1.  Any Dover VP info would be greatly appreciated! - Thanks, Dino

sthec,

Welcome to the forum. We haven't played at Dover Downs, but I checked vpfree2 and it doesn't list any VP in Delaware. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vpFREE/

It may be like the La. horse racing casinos. If they have horse racing they can have slots but not VP or in La. even table games. Many states evidently limit casinos to certain options. They aren't allowed to have the whole gambling exposure: horses, tables, slots, and VP. Wouldn't be fair!

You might check out the link to find casinos within traveling distance that do have VP for future reference. We use it all of the time when we are traveling to new areas that have casinos.

Good luck.

Larry....I did call the casino and they do have VP although no one could tell me anything re; paytables.  I'm not expecting much but will report back here after our trip.

Thanks for the welcome...always nice to find other VP lovers

I`ve played there a number of times and had good and bad luck. The best thing about it is all the video poker machines are in one area so you aren`t running all over the place looking for them. They have an interesting assortment of games and maybe a few you havent seen before. I`m sure you have already gone so hopefully you can tell us how you liked it and how you did.

Well, w/ all of the snow storms around Dover and north of there, we never went.  We still plan on making it there so I'll report back when we finally get into spring around here!  :)

Dont bother with dover downs, just go to AC instead. Not many VP machines and pay tables are like 7,5. If you play the dollar machine they have a couple of 8,5 pay tables.

Well.....we're finally off to check out Dover Downs after being snowed out last yr.  We've taken 2 LV trips since we were trying to hit Dover last year and got whacked pretty good on the last one in Oct.  We were at Wynn/Encore for 5 nights and didn't hit a thing until the last night.  I got a RF on a qtr prog machine for about $1,300 but were were already down about $3K.  It did lighten the blow though...lol

We're going for 2 nights the weekend after the Presidents Day holiday so hopefully it won't be too crowded and I'll report back on what we found for VP and how we did.

For what it's worth, Trip Advisor has consistent good reports about the hotel and resort in general so I think we'll be happy even if the pay tables are marginal...we just need a get-away!   Plus.... how much worse could the pay tables be than the 6/5 BP at the Mirage in LV?

The hotel at Dover is wonderful and the "casino" is also nice. Not at all happy with the VP machines and there are not a lot. Other choices in the area are Harrington also in Delaware, Chester in PA and another in PA I can not think of. Lots of choices in Chester for VP...but I don't think that there is a hotel on Site.
Best of luck!

No Hotel at the Harrah`s Chester Pa. Casino. There are several up the street and up by Phila. International Airport.
Sugarhouse Casino is in center city Phila along the Delaware River waterfront.
Parx Casino ( Phila. Park Racetrack ) is further north up I-95 outside Phila. No hotel on premise but there are some in the neighborhood.
