DB vs DDB ?

Post by DOUBLE B »

What is the pros/cons of 10/7 DB (100.17%) vs 10/6 DDB (100.07%). Obviously the pay tables are different and the .1%, but other than that, is one more violable than the other? If you had to play one of these two--which one would you play and why?

I never play either one but the DD is probably more volatile based on higher individual payouts.  Consider a "royal" game that only payed for royals, say 38000 credits.  Now that would be volatile, even if 100% return!

If you can find a 10/6 DDB game, I would jump on it! You would get good low-pay hand returns, and the possibilty for Aces or TTF with a kicker for the higher pay returns. Most strip casinos are 8/5 DDB.

I would play DB but one important consideration is the strategy for DB is much more difficult than DDB. Anyone not willing to put in lots of time would be better off with DDB.
The volatility of DDB is around 40 while DB is around 27. So, DDB is quite a bit more volatile.

Thank you guys for info........I play DB pretty much exclussively and I was most concerened about the volatility of DDB. Heck! DB volatility is high enough, so I don't think I'l jump into DDB. I've played/practiced DB for years so I have strategy down pretty well. I do deviate on a few plays from prefect strategy. I am going to start another post to ask about deviation from perfect strategy. Thanks again for info......

We used to play DB exclusively. This past year we found a DDB progressive that can get high at times. Switching to DDB for me just happened by chance. After hitting A's with kickers and ttf with kickers, I now would rather play DDB. Im sure DDB is more volatile but 800 credits vs 2000 is too tempting to me. Play what makes you happy.

...and rich! DDB is my game of choice, also, because of the higher pay. TDB can be fun as well. An older woman sat next to me playing JOB and hit awaks, twice in just a few hands!  She would have made so much more playing DDB had she hit those awaks. I talked to her about it and coached her through a few hands of DDB as she indicated she wanted me to do. Usually, I mmob in casinos but she was a sweetheart. She soon reverted back to playing JOB in her comfort zone. My husband rarely plays VP but also plays JOB. He has not played long enough to hit a royal. It works that he can use one of my cards to accumulate comps. This helps for tier score at Harrah's properties. We do not have to worry about him hitting big time and having to fight the casino to get the pay off. That's not going to happen. He was a physics/math major and if he had the interest, would no doubt play better than I do. He does enjoy black jack and I stay away from the tables.

Thanks, faygo. Awhile back, Bob D discussed HIS hand pay win on HER card. The casino gave him a rough time but finally paid off and asked him to use his own card in the future. Why do I have a feeling that casino personnel would treat him differently than the rest of us lesser known souls?

I truly suspect they were only giving him guff over running up points on someone elses card and not over the win. He has indicated in other previous writings that playing on his wife's card has caused him issues before.
The last instance I had was at the AC Hilton. I was playing off some free play for Tanqueray when I hit for $2400 on a DD slot. The attendant pulled her card out and asked for my ID. She indicated that the W2G must be made out to the winner.  They did not indicate in anyway that what I was doing was against their policy.
