I've may play more video poker at Grand Casino/Tunica than anyone and have had my share of big wins and losses but 3 weeks ago I hit aroyal flush on triple bonus/1$ for $4,000 and decided to go into the $5.00 minimum play room. I was'nt in there 5 minutes when a lady hit a royal flush that paid her $100,000. I also forgot to mention that my royal flush was the first I had hit in three years. I used to hit them all the time but for some reason they became like hens teeth.

A year and a half ago my wife had one 4 month stretch without a RF. This year she has had 7 RFs already and 4 in the last 10 days.  Yeah, we gamble several days a week so you can see just how bad that 4 month stretch was. It included over 60 days of gambling with some of those days running 10 hours

This is a part of randomness that many people just don't understand. They blame the machines, the casinos or just about anything EXCEPT themselves. It's human nature to want to find some other culprit but the fact is they simply hit deal at the wrong times.

That just sucks doesn't it SM?  I mean, "they" ought to give you a RF every once in a while to insure that you'll come back or something.  Or reward you for perfect play.

But no!  Those machines are tuned into your phyche!

They SEE you getting frustrated and instead of letting up, they insist on dealing you nothing but throwaway hands...not even a pair and but one matching suit with no connectors!  It's INSULTING!  I've gotten to the point of wanting to put my fist through one of those display screens...especially when after losing, they pop up with "PLAY MAXIMUM CREDITS!"

I try to be philosophical about it and talk nice to the machine.  I've even been known to stroke the machine while reassurring it that I know it means well.  Sometimes that works.  But some of them are just EVIL!

I swear I'll never play them again!  I'm going again tonight.

Attaboy! Don't let the "Bad Machines" get you down. After all we are smarter than an inanimate object?

I once played next to an elderly woman who was talking to her VP machine. She would coo at the machine when it treated her nicely, and would speak crossly to it when it wasn't so nice to her. The funniest moment came when she said sharply, "OK, that's it, you're getting a time out!" Then she sat in front of the machine for like 5 or 10 minutes without playing, just glaring at it during the "time out" period.

The previous post was my first so I am new to this site and noticed somewhere on this site it mentioned playing VP for a living or playing as a second income. I started playing VP ever since casinos got within driving distance for me and have cashed so many jackpots that a $1,200 win for me just means more money to play with. I have never been under the illusion that I would actually come out ahead in the long run and the VP machines never let me down. The more I play the more I win and in turn the more I lose but can anyone here actually say they make a living or enough to consider it a second income? I have the hardest time explaining to my wife when I get my W2G's what happened to all that money. The best explanation I can give her is the moneys not real. I enjoy playing so I could use a lttle help from yall explaining this to my wife.

Many types VP machines are set up to provide large winners along with long losing streaks. These machines, like DDB, will provide lot's of W2Gs but are still not going to provde long term wins. The only way to win long term is to play machines that pay back over 100% with proper play. They may not exist in the casinos you play but they do exist. There are other games, like Jacks or Better and Bonus Poker, where you will see very few W2Gs but will lose much slower. These games have a lower volatility  because they pay back 2-1 for two pair.

If you hang around this site and read some of the other threads you will learn a lot about video poker.

I had a great 2 night VP wins at Silverton in LV on a dollar bonus poker deluxe machine.  My first night, I hit a 4 of a kind with  8's for a hand pay of $400.00  The next night, I decided to play the same machine again and soon hit another 4 of a kind with 9's for another hand pay of $400.00  The change person who paid me the 1st night also paid me the 2nd night looked at me very suspiciously. My next vacation a year later, I went to Silverton and they moved the roll of machines.  Oh well, I guess they knew I was coming over.

I played two places yesterday...Isle of Capri and AmeriStar.  Neither has full pay on any game except Isle of Capri on "All American Poker".  I hit 7 quads in three hours there.  Then came to AmeriStar and played off and on for probably a total of 5 hours and FINALLY hit quad 5's on DDB at 5:50 this morning!  Talk about hitting the "deal" button at the wrong time!
