What is your VP session like?

Post by oej719 »

Here is a question  that I think alot of new VP players would like to know about.
WHAT IS A VP SESSION FOR YOU?
What do you gage it  on? Time? A certain dollar amount won/loss?
Do you change games and denominations? And what determines your decisions?

And any other guidelines you use for your sessions.
Everyone probably does something unique and sharing your thoughts may give some new ideas.
So let's hear what you do.
Thanks

A typical DB session would be 200-250 hands, about half of that if I don't hit at least one full house. THere may be four or more sessions at that given casino too. If I don't get a quad, then I know I'm in trouble for the visit. This would be a dollar level or above. Most of all, play within your financial limits and not beyond !!!!----CWA----

also are you saying if you hit quads or better that ends your session? for the day or that casino?

I have to travel quite some distance to get to a casino currently.  When I go, I know I'm going to be there for a minimum of 6 to 8 hours.  But I do not play VP exclusively.  In fact, I don't play it at all if I can't find something at least close to Full Pay (like 9/6 DDB is marginal!)  I split my time between low limit Blackjack and VP.  With the "back problem" I have, I cannot sit at a machine for hours and hours like I used to be able to do.  So, when I begin to get uncomfortable, I leave the machine.  I don't base the decision on wins and loses unless I tank out.

When I go to a casino that is closeby I typically spend 3-4 hours and then call it quits for the day. If I go to a casino where I am staying overnight then it is not unusual for me to gamble for 10-12 hours, sleep and then play for 3-4 more hours the next morning.

I currently, like MikeA, have to travel a long way to get to a Casino. The stay is usually two nights, On the day of arrival I will play for about six hours. The next day is usually a marathon session from about 8AM until 10PM of course with the required breaks. The last morning , after getting the bags in storage, will last depending on the machines 4-6 hours.

I live close enough to the casinos that travel time isn't an issue, as it can be for some people.

I have two main considerations.  I have a $ goal in mind before I start playing, based on how many $ I've brought for the session.  If I happen to hit it I bug out, even if it means a particular session is a short one.  If I happen to hit some winners that put me at my $ target plus some, I'll usually stay and play more until I've played back the "plus some".  Then I leave.

If a session is a middlin'-good one - where I haven't hit my $ target, but haven't busted either - the consideration becomes time.  4 hours, tops, for me (fatigue).

I live close enough to plenty of casinos that I can play, usually, four or five days a week. Sometimes I'm there more often than that. But 2 to 2.5 hours is tops for me per session...maybe if I'm really on a roll I'll be there a bit longer. If I can't make something happen in a couple of hours, than it's not gonna happen. Early morning hours are my best times in casinos.

I hit the casino about 3-5 times in a month and usually spend the day since it is about 100 miles one way. I never have much success early on so I move around until I feel a rythmn getting started, then settle in at a good machine, kick off my shoes, undo my tie, and break out the big bucks and get the zone on.
Now,  seriously I take a certain dollar amount and if I get ahead by 25% I stop.
If I get down by approx 50% I stop.  I have it happen both ways.
Sometimes a good hit puts me ahead well over 25% depending if it comes early and often and the denomination. But the good thing is I can never fall below 50% of my starting available cash. some people laugh at me stopping at 50% loss and question why bring it if you you don't gamble it. Works well for me.

I agree.  It really makes no sense.  But I understand and often do the same thing.  Especially if that 50% loss occurs right off the bat!  If my session bankroll has lasted several hours, I might go ahead and continue playing past a 50% loss though.
