Talk about a casino that is still in the dark ages they still have the old stand up VP machines single denomination one choice games that look older than I do.

(Shrugging) As long as people play 'em, the casino will keep 'em.

I rarely play them myself, unless a bank has a high progressive for the royal or quads.  I did have a session earlier this year at Fortune Valley here in Central City on a bank like that ($1 DDB) because the royal was up to $7,700.  It was finally hit by someone else at $8,400.  I didn't hit anything big, but got enough mid-size ones to walk out with $1,300 (ten hours later).  I enjoyed that session because it was kind of a blast from the past, carrying buckets o' coins to the cashier window now and again.  Never had enough buckets at one time to call for a cart, though.

There probably were some other poker machines in the place but I never found them and before I decided to ask where they may be I had gotten a terrible headache and left. There was no place in the casino to get away from the music.

There are more poker machines at the Fitz and they are about as far away from the "music" as you can get.  They are still coin droppers though and older than sin.  If you enter the casino from the corner closest to the 4-Queens, just turn to the right and follow the wall all the way back and go up the short span of stairs (3 or 4 steps).  That will put you into the general area of the lobby.  There are an abundance of machines up there.  That's where they conduct their twice a week VP tournaments.

Fitzgerald's is a privately owned casino competing with increasingly larger and well-capitalized public corporations. In fact, I think it has minority ownership. Ownership is attempting to invest in additional properties instead of upgrading the ones already owned.

Personally, I would never go back to dirty coins/tokens, and I never play except on multi-denom, multi-game machines because my style of play requires it.

In relation to your comments about buttons sticking: Players should walk out if there is an obvious neglect of maintenance. But tell someone in authority why you are walking. Comments do indeed get back to the man upstairs.

To be frank, I have never really found a casino at Tunica that does anything for me. The Mississippi Coast is not that far away and its casinos are much better, much more competitive. I think Tunica still has the attitude that it has a captive audience --- players who are too far away from anywhere else. Employees at Tunica seem to have a sullen attitude, compared to the friendly service found elsewhere in casinos. And just the way the casinos are spread out so far from each other makes the entire Tunica set-up highly inconvenient.

Give me LV region or the Coast anyday.

Hmmmm, were we talking about the Fitz on Fremont St in LV?  Hope so.  At least that is the casino my comments were about.  BTW...the machines where I was describing are a mixture of single game and multi-game...slant top and upright.

Mike, I thought the original comment was about Fitzgerald's in Tunica, based on Pokeherguy's earlier posts about Tunica. Fitzgerald's has four casinos --- one each in Tunica and Las Vegas, one near Chicago, and one in Blackhawk. I have only been to the Tunica and LV locations, and only once to each. BTW, I am not knocking minority ownership nor do I not appreciate the struggles of an independent against the deep pockets of large public gaming corporations. But that doesn't change the fact that I play only at places I like.

Rascal,

I'm not fond of the Fitz in LV either.  My reasons are two-fold.  First, I truly dislike the coin drop machines and those at Fitz are truly very old.  However, I have played in a couple of VP tournaments there.

The other reason is the Blackjack table rules.  To be blunt, they SUCK!
