I wish I lived in California. I would probably star in a bunch of hit movies..
Nope the only time I get to In and Out is when I get to Vegas.
I get me a cheeseburger, choc shake, and fries with some of that special 1000 island looking sauce.
They took a simple thing and do it better than anyone I have seen.
I may check into see about getting a local franchise.

No franchises. They don't franchise. The locations are all owned by the family, and it is a private, not public, company. Each restaurant manager must attend the In and Out University, where they learn all of the secrets of the business. But really, it is no big secret --- their entire success is based on NO microwaves or freezers allowed on the premises. Everything must be freshly made, and what doesn't sell is tossed out. Even the french fries are made right there on the spot in the restaurant from the potatoes.
Most of the restaurants are in CA but I did remember after your post that I have seen a couple in LV, and I think there are a bunch in the Phoenix area. They could expand more rapidly if they went public, but I don't forsee that.
There is a comparable burger chain in Texas called Whataburger, but they are not nearly as good as In and Out, in my opinion., although they also use the same freshness formula. Another terrific local burger chain is in Birmingham, AL, called Milo's.
As you can see, I travel a lot. :(

Yes you do get around. I remember seeing them wash and cut the potatoes right in view behind the counter. Fresh does taste better.

Another reason to love casinos-the food. But it seems to taste better when you are winning. Borgata's buffet is tops in AC, with Showboat and Harrah's close behind. The food court at Borgata is perfect to grab a quick bite without having to wait on line. But sometimes you have to get down and dirty and hang on the boardwalk-lots of food choices there-bring the Pepto and your shades.
