new video poker machine and design

Post by mightwin »

Today I saw a different looking machine at Green Valley Ranch.  It was poker, but you look slightly down towards the screen and had a different design where the hold buttons were.  It was comfortable to play.  It reminds me of oriental looking slot machines you see scattered around the casino floor. It included a "bonus" payout of double the regular winning hand if you won after a screen announced the chance of a double pay.   It was in between the sushi restaurant and the way towards the sports book, right on the edge of a wide walking space.

Let me apologize for others here not responding to this interesting bit of information, and I will see if i can get over to gvr when I get to Nellis for my next assignment. You know how a few of them get all giddy by proclaiming someone is RS when that someone doesnt exactly fit their mold. I guess they think Frank is lying too. Man alive, now shadow and new2 are going to chase me around this forum.

Backsider, please stay on topic and don't bring your little feud with other members into other topics such as this one.

Backsider - you've mentioned that you are in a wheelchair.  You've mentioned you don't think you'll go to the strip because it might be hard to get there.  I'm almost positive that some of the taxi/cab companies can transport people with (I'm not the best at being PC) mobility challenges (?).  Somewhere I read that some of the buses here are "kneeling" buses so that people with wheelchairs can ride.   Green Valley Ranch is relatively far from the base.  I'm sure it would be a very expensive cab ride.  (I'm not saying you couldn't afford it, I'm saying it may not be worth it). It would be a shame if you're in Las Vegas at Nellis and didn't go to the strip.  So close, yet so far.... And since I've already warned I'm not the best PC person - you have a great advantage over the people walking on the strip.  You probably won't get blisters from walking in ill-fitting shoes.  I'm not mentioning this to be mean.  When my Mom started having a problem walking because of back pain, we would bring a wheelchair for her.  She would have me push her from one end of the mall to the other, and back.  I would be whining about my feet being on fire, and she would said that she wasn't tired yet.  I'm not trying to be insulting - please take this in the way I meant it - as an advantage.  All the casinos I've been in are easy to manuver in with ramps and elevators.  Even the overhead pedestrian walkways over the strip have elevators. I know I can be taken wrong because of my wording - most days I open mouth, insert at least one foot. When will you be stationed at Nellis and for how long?  Since I'm nosy too.

When we go to Vegas, I see plenty of wheel chairs and motorized carts getting around just fine. A friend had foot surgery and could not walk very far/long  She had tickets to a home show and I borrowed a wheel chair. People were absolutely amazing. It seemed like no one even noticed us, yet crowds parted to allow us to enter and get up close to exhibits. My friend, a garden club member, and I enjoy watching floral arrangments being created. The floral designer kept looking at my friend as he  created the biggest and most beautiful arrangement we had ever seen. It took up most of the back seat! That was one fun day and proved once again that strangers can be beautiful! Strangers are also great about opening doors when they see a wheel chair approaching.

Did you happen to see who manufactured this new game? I'd like to peruse the game on the company's website.

No, but next time I'm there - I'll look and post for you. It's design might be ergonomically friendly.  (if that makes sense)

I know getting around to casinos wont be tough because if its anything like Huachuca they have handicap vans and the guys and gals are always more than willing to take me out. (I have a powered chair). I think itll be easy for them in LV since they can leave me alone for hours at any large casino and know Ill be fine. Ill put up a few reports once i get going. Im not seeing too much in the way of large casinos so far out near the AFB. gvr is a ways, but im not paying for gas!

Suggested was the Cannery near the base.  I haven't been out that way in years, and haven't been to that casino.  I have gone to the Eastside Cannery, and it's nice.   I've been going into the casinos that aren't much advertised - just to see.  Some are dumps, but it's kinda fun to see the older casinos off the beaten path.  It's like going into the past - which is quite fun, especially if you win. Keep practicing.  This site is great for playing games before you invest in the latest thing that takes double the real money credits. Look forward to bumping into you someday soon.
