NEED INFO ON FOXWOOD

Post by kjohn »

The hubby and I are considering a trip to Foxwood in Oct. What I want to know is which hotel in their group is the best to stay in. Trip Adviser reviewers seem to favor Pequot. We'll be taking some day trips to the coastal towns and ANY info about the area will be appreciated..I'll be playing mostly in the evenings and hopefully will play enough to get a reduced room rate..They seem pretty high especially when we are spoiled to the free rooms in Vegas. Any suggestions on getting the rate lowered..One Adviser writer got a reduction and upgrade for being a first time guest...ALL suggestions would be appreciated.

Also does anyone have a casino hostess they would recommend?

We will be flying into Hartford and renting a car. I assume the casinos are all about the same but if not advice on which is best for VP..

Had a terrible trip to Vegas the first of this month..One of the only times I can remember that I just QUIT, went to the room and watched TV at 3:00P.M. Read a book, got carry out and took it back to the room and was glad to get on the plane for home the next morning......At least I quit which was a good thing...and all the food and room were comped so over all I wasn't too bummed out.

Sorry to hear you had a terrible Las Vegas trip. Also sorry I missed you at the M.  I lurked around all the triple play machines I could find.  I circled like a vulture - I'm sure I made more than one person nervous.  I got there about 9:45 and finally left around 11:45 in the morning.  I wore a bright red I love my videopoker.com shirt, and called out "K-John" during my cirlcles.  I made it by the ones by the racebook at least 4 times - just in case.  There's always a next time. Good luck at Foxwood.

kjohn,
Sorry you had a bad trip to Vegas and weren't able to meet with mightwin.   Sweet C and I had been looking at trip to Cape Cod and Foxwoods in September. We decided that flying into Providence RI was better than Boston or Hartford. It allows you to drive along the coast and then up to the woods where the colors may be changing.

Best wishes.

LL

I have always heard to ask for a "casino rate" for rooms for a better quote, but have not had much experience in doing this. GL  I have always wanted to visit FOXWOOD as well. I understand it's very BIG!

Mightwin, I never made it to the M...I did rent a car one day but decided not to head south by myself..so I went to Suncoast and Rampart..Suncoast was OK and I got a kick out of the machines that still have the coin tray..Rampart was depressing so I just left...The most exciting thing there was driving out of the parking garage...I've always had some sort of luck at RR but this was just one of those experiences..I did get to watch and listen to the Toby Keith concert from my hotel window and that was rather entertaining...and loud. Way too long a trip to take alone but at least I missed my hubby's 50th class reunion which was a blessing...

I still hope to get more input on Foxwood and area..

LL we'll look into the different airports...Maybe we'll meet up eventually..We now have a direct flight to Houston from Branson and my sister and niece and Steve's daughter live there so We'll be making a trip that way at some pt...I'll keep you informed and maybe you can spirit me off to your casino for a day...Right now I'm laying low and holding on to my remaining stash in the little safe..I only allow so much for the year and I blew a lot at RR...but there is always another day...

Kjohn - it's ok, I went to play freeplay that Saturday anyway.  Was thinking about going up to Red Rock, but figured I wouldn't find you.  That might have been considered stalking or just plain creepy.  Plus, I think you still thought I was a guy.  I would have gone up there early evening to try to hear a bit of Toby Keith, and would have missed you anyway. Here's a thought for Foxwood.  Do you know if they have a partnership with any of the other casinos you frequent?  Maybe one of your hosts can help with special rates.

Mgm has the nicest rooms and a fantastic heated pool.Cedar is the most centrally located. Indoor pool.Pequot is great-indoor pool. Two Trees is across the street but there is a regular shuttle and is the cheapest-indoor pool.

MGM is the nicest, but a little further from the rest of the action. Otherwise, Grand Pequot is the place to stay in the main part of the hotel.

Yes I did think you were a guy..LOL You never know anymore. We'll be back at some pt and I'll drag the hub along to drive me around and I'll keep you informed...Probably be in the winter...

Since we don't care about the pool scene, (last time I got into the water it was at the lake and I jumped in with my shorts and t-shirt..Scared the grandkids to death) we may just stay where we can get the best rate....

I did check to see if the MGM at Foxwood was affiliated with the MGM Corporation and, go figure, it isn't..I could get a better deal if it was, but you can't always get free rooms...All my non gambling friends just pay for rooms like common folk..Gee, don't they know if they would just drop a grand or two they would get free rooms and food...

kjohn,
Sun-Thur should get you a cheaper room rate.   Ironically, at dinner with daughter/SIL tonight we tentatively scheduled a joint trip next April/May to Foxwood/Mohegan Sun.

They are headed to Vegas next week for 5 days to celebrate anniversary. Two days at RR and then best offer was Encore for 3. Kidded them that it would probably be cooler in Vegas than Houston.
