Video Poker in South Florida

Post by VPMiami »

I recently discovered these forums while searching to expand my knowledge of strategies for video poker games other than Jacks or Better.  I am a recreational, low-limit video poker player, usually playing the $0.05 and $0.10 machines.  I play about once per week, with each session lasting between 1 to 3 hours. Since there seems to be little information about South Florida low-limit video poker offerings, I'll try to post occasional updates for each of the places I visit on a regular basis. The casinos that I play at are: Calder Race Course and Casino, Miami Gardens, FLMagic City Casino, Miami, FLSeminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Hollywood, FLGulfstream Park, Hallandale Beach, FLMardis Gras Gaming, Hallandale Beach, FL There are several other gaming venues in South Florida (Broward and Miami-Dade counties).  I won't have any comments for them because they either are inconvenient to drive to, don't offer slots/video poker or I simply don't like the venue and choose not to spend time there. An overall note... the video poker pay tables in South Florida are generally pretty poor, especially on the low limit machines.  As a recreational player, I can accept that as a "cost of entertainment".  I have managed to do fairly well by sticking with a well-defined set of win/loss limits and by walking away from the casino when I reach either for a given session.  More serious player will probably find that they'll need to be playing at least the $0.25 or $1 machines to achieve a return that comes marginally close to full pay. So, that's my intro in a nutshell.  Hoping to add to the forums from time-to-time.  If anyone has specific questions about a venue I've listed, let me know and if I don't know the answer, I'll try to find out the next time I visit that venue. Good luck. - D -

Welcome D,
I have been to the Seminole Hard Rock.  And yes the paytables are not that great.  I think I ended up in High Limit room playing 1 credit instead of 5 because the pt was 9/6 compared to 8/5.  I'd rather take my chances in the short run and did manage a handpay.

I will say at this casino is the first time I ever seen a $1,000 slot machine.

And the guy opposite to me was playing $5 x 50 play = $1,250 a hand and on the other side I had a guy playing single line $25.

Thanks for the "Welcome" spx. Yeah, I don't venture into the VIP room that often.  Just a little bit above my pay grade . On nickel and dime machines, playing Deuces Wild with 5 coins, I can usually milk a $20 bill for an hour or so.  I either leave when the $20 is gone, or I get lucking and hit a RF, 4 deuces or catch a heater and walk with between $30 to $400.  Pays for the beer for the rest of the month. I prefer DW to JoB.  I get bored waiting and waiting and waiting for JoB to pay out.  At least with DW, there are more decisions to make and the machine beeps more often. But still trying to scope out the best game with the best pay table and the best slot club.  More details to come. - D -

You should try Deuces +Jokers, sometimes you can play forever on that game
