L'auberge Comps

Post by Gigi2 »

Visiting L'Auberge in Lake Charles this week - playing DDB Super Times Pay at the $1 level for $18 a hand.   I racked up over 5000 points the first day of play - slept in late so didn't have much play time before 11 a.m. checkout.
When it was time to check out I went to the host's desk to ask for my food to be comped per my play - we had eaten two buffets and two for breakfast. that had been charged to the room.  I was told I had 7 hours of play at the dollar level but Didn't Qualify for any food comps because I  - now are you ready for this - Hadn't Lost Enough Money?????
Now I have been going to casino's for about 20 years and I have always been told it doesn't matter what you win or lose - it's what you how much you gamble.
Are these people crazy?  I take thousands of dollars to play at this level and they can't comp me 2 buffets?

Gigi,
Your story is sounding very familiar. We've generally quit playing at LDL partly because of comps, the poor lower denomination pay tables and the poor maintenance of the machines. The $VP at LDL is the best pay tables in Lake Charles but the STP is comparable. I would recommend you consider contacting Isle and at least giving them a try. Isle comps are much better and the tower rooms are generally clean and comfortable. The tower rooms have jacuzzi tubs and the hot water is immediately hot!!! Besides you can get late check out. LOL

Several of the LDL hosts have moved to Isle so you might call and check with Mac, Carol, or Justin.

Thanks Larry - I stopped going to Isle when L'Auberge was built - they had let the Isle go down so much and everything was so beautiful "across the bay".
Just as an update -  I did contact my host - he said what the host on duty  told me was wrong - that nothing should be based on win/loss.  He told me from now on not to ask anyone there for comps on my food - he would take care of it.
So enjoy seeing your posts.

Gigi - What you were told is absolutely true. This casino will comp you generously when you show a loss and not so generously when you don't. Generally I have found that once you show a loss of $500 for a day food and rooms come easy. Just like you I was shocked when I first experienced this but to be honest these days I don't mind their system. Why? As a table player it's easy to "show" a loss even when you haven't lost so once i realized this I found getting comps was easier than most other casinos however I don't know of a way to fake additional loses in video poker and so it does become a problem. Also, just like anywhere else it depends who you talk to....i have met some really friendly people at the host stand and I have met some really unfriendly folks as well.

Now...all that being said I'm curious to know what yourself and Larry think of the players club there. It seems like it would be fairly easy to get to the "owner's club" level by playing video poker and that top tier includes a 1 year care lease. Any thoughts?

Gigi,
Glad it worked out. We have found that working with only one or two hosts makes a huge difference. Waiting to see how Mojito Point impacts LDL when/if it opens in a couple of years next door to L'Auberge.

We've been pleased to see the many renovations and upgrades made by the GM at Isle. Corporate seems to be giving him plenty of $$$. New carpet in casino is being installed in Nov. Of course, since he was the CFO at L'Auberge he knows what he has to do to gather market share especially between now and when Mojito Point opens up.

One of these trips well have to meet up in person.

BTW: the Isle STP have been paying out like crazy. A regular we know caught 4 hand pays for $14K in just over two hours last week playing quarters, moving to 50¢ and then RF $. Since there are a limited number of machines they get played heavy during the weekends and are hitting like crazy lately.

Since retirement we rarely have the money to play $VP at L'Auberge even though it has 99% return games including NSUD. The payback on VP is if I recall only .5% of the regular slots. The low denom VP games are not worth playing (94-95%) as the machines and multi-hand are bar tops which are filthy, not maintained, and crowded by drinkers playing 1 X5 on 50/100 multi-hand machines.

I'll stick with my 98% return 50/100 MH 5¢ machines at Isle. Select level, second tier, players receive 1.25 pts for play comps. This accumulation really helps.

Larry I see what you mean. I generally play $1 Jacks or Better so i did not investigate what the pay tables were for other games and denoms. Although i did not spend any time at the Isle last time I was in lake charles I plan to on my next trip. I agree that the rooms are nice and it's fairly easy to get whatever you want comp wise.

Wow!!  1.25 comps for video poker??  You are right - L'Auberge is .5 - that is a huge difference.
Is Isle's premium restaurant still good?  We had some great comped meals in there years ago.
I am going to try going thru my personal host for everything - like I said he always arranged my room - if I go during the week I get a great suite on the second floor - sometimes I have to ask for it but I have never been turned down on a weekday -  and then I have always just gone to the host's desk and they took care of my food.   Even when I had my huge win a couple of trips ago I didn't have any trouble doing it that way.

Gigi,
Sounds like a great thing going at LDL. The "Select" (second tier players) get 1.25 for regular slots (VP is .75) still a 50% increase over LDL but with your comps it may not be worth it. I'm not sure what "Paradise" top level gets but I'm sure its more than the 1.25/.75.

Your wins/losses shouldn't be an issue on comps just your coin played during the session. One thing I would do is ask for a "coin-in/coin-out statement from the Player Development dept. They'll probably argue about "proprietary information" but I'd push the issue up the line.

Tell them you want to check your annual play and CI/CO is a more accurate way compared to Win/Loss since that depends on your wins/losses not total amount of coin played. For example if you played for 5,000 points on a trip I think that equals $100,000 CI/CO at LDL.

We get an annual CI/CO statement from several places. This allows us to gauge our annual play.

Hope you got some of the rain we finally got late today and this evening.

Larry,
I had heard Isle was opening a new restaurant (possibly from you on another thread :) Do you know if this place is opened yet?
